Kudos to Delpo bc Nadal was actually playing well.

Take my hat off to you for not crying like the other Nadal fans. The attitude has grown bitter over the last couple of pages for no good reason. The thread has been classy and well behaved enough, some Nadal fans are just being overly sensitive because it can be upsetting or whatever when one's fave loses.

Del Potro is playing just as well as he did in 2009 in this tournament, hope he can bring it to the final. Ferrer and Federer are both (unfortunately) on the way down, we need him to make it a real Big 4 again.

I don't think the Shanghai fans know who these two people in the final are they only know Federer and Nadal could be a small crowd for the final tomorrow.

As disappointed as I am that Nadal didn't win, I really hope Del Potro can continue playing like that more consistently, just a monstrous performance. Wasn't even a case of Nadal having an off day, he was just never allowed to take control at any point.

I still think it should be about WTF for Nadal.

He has his eyes set on being the first player to win 6 Masters 1000 titles in a calendar season. This had to hurt a little. He still has one more chance, will he go for it in Paris?

The latter. Roger Federer would be ashamed of this thread and this board in general if he read it, so many of his fans on here are just horrible partisan hacks.

And Nadal must be thrilled if exposed to the Vamos Briggade Army on this forum, they are a fun bunch!

That's unfortunate. Both players are there to win and whoever does, hats off.

QFT. At least I wake up early to watch my favorite player. These *** clowns wake up at all times of night to root against someone. However, the Unemployment Office is closed.on weekends.

Well said. There are evils in every camp. Some are blatant about their hate, others do it through much discreet postings, but you can make it out quite clearly.

Good point, I forgot about that.

It definitely is, from start to finish. I know he is capable of this kind of tennis, he just had the bad luck with all the injuries and so on..He was serving well too :) His best match so far this year.

Congrats, Incognito.

Your guy played excellent tennis from start to finish.

This is only the second time all year that Nadal has not reached the final, I must be his curse, first of all I attended his loss to Darcis and now I create this thread, Uncle Toni will be on to me.

Congratulations to DELPO, I have always said that when these two are at their beat there is only one winner and that is the true hero of tennis Juan Martin del Potro.

With this win DELPO qualifies for the 2013 WTF!!!

It's interesting how often top players have a small letdown after becoming #1.

You'd expect it from new #1's but even the veterans like Nadal have it.

Last year, Federer had an amazing year considering his age and only played 1 really good tournament after becoming #1. This year, Nadal has a phenomenal year but as soon as #1 is secured, he loses in Beijing and Shanghai.

The effort it takes to become #1 takes a lot out of the players. It must be hard to stay 100% focused if you have reached your goal.

I really think this thread was honest, truthful and in good enough taste and without disgrace. The timing of the complaints from certain Nadal fans came at a time where it seemed more and more inevitable that Nadal would lose, ergo, were upset at what was about to be and are now taking it out unfairly on this thread.

For myself, I prefer it if del Potro beats Nadal, but I'd be more neutral for a Nadal Djokovic match up.

The MAIN point though is that the tennis is entertaining and of a very high standard between these very top ranked players.

He looked pretty focused to me. Just outplayed by a player who on his day can beat anyone.

And regarding last week, we know what Djokovic can do to him.

Agreed.

If we have a Big 4 again, we can always look forward to great tennis being played.

Even though my fave lost, it was sublime tennis, and you can't fault del Potro for doing his thing.

I don't have a rooting interest for the final. Will be happy for either result.

most Fed fans like the good (Del Potro) and hate the ugly (Nadal). It's only fitting...and anyone that has witnessed Nadal fans behavior over the last several months knows how "humble" they are.

True...This is nothing compared to the downright insults Nadal fans were throwing around watching Fed's career crumble.

On the contrary I think most Fed fans are actually fond of him. Notice the threads about favorite players outside top 4 how many Fed fans (myself including) say Del Potro

True...DelPo has that flair and style...Aggressive and entertaining.

Problem with Del Potro is his sustainability of form and fitness in the best of 5 format.

Yeah this was fun tennis, I love seeing incredible winners. This is fantasy stuff right here, can you imagine what'd it feel like if we can hit winners with such force? oh man. Good tennis

This is why I said "On his day." :)

Sure. I wasn't pointing any fault, more just inferring that I wish he could find a way to sustain himself in the longer format with more consistency.

Oh and great BTW, just caught your update.

I managed to go the 2011 finals. As you can imagine, I was extremely thrilled.
