Shaped main ... rough cross?

I'm experimenting with poly-poly hybrids and I'm wondering if anyone has experiencing pairing edged strings with rough? I worry the rough strings would be more susceptible to notching/breaking, but I'm not sure. I always prefer to use a shaped main for bite. Is it best to pair shaped mains with shaped, round or rough cross? or does it rly not matter. I never break strings, but i don't want to start.

Rough crosses are going to restrict movement of the mains, so that is not going to impact play in a positive way.

notching is more an issue of the mains. It is likely going to be worse with rough crosses, but since movement is going to be limited it might even prevent notching. Would be surprised if this experiment gives positive results

It should be a good combination, I was about to try it out, but got injury so I can't now, see this thread, peoples are using the way your wanted:

ive used max power rough as a cross and while I may have experienced slightly more bite on the ball, the rough texture was worn smooth after first few hrs anyways so it was short lived. The shapedness of the mains is much more important in contributing to the bite and Id be more concerned about having a sharp main string that stays sharp. Slick smooth round copoly with good tension maintenance makes for best cross string. Then it just comes down to preference of feel. Personally, I like signum pro polaris a lot. It has softened a lot of stiff mains that I would otherwise be unable to hit with such as hyperG, confidential, wasabi.
