Shaped Poly in a poly/multi hybrid = quick to break?

Looking at going away from a Poly/Poly hybrid and to a Poly/Multi hybrid. Mostly for comfort.

Currently using Hyper mains and Ghostwire crosses. Elbow isnt happy, even in the low 40s.

Wanting to try a poly in the mains, and TF Triax in the crosses.

Is any poly - shaped or round - simply going to fray and "saw" through the Triax crosses?

Any suggestions on how to step away from a poly/poly to a poly/multi?

Any multi in the cross is going to give you issues being softer. The softer string will fray and lock the whole thing up which will not benefit your elbow either.

Why not put the softer string in the mains with your GW cross?

The softer main will eventually snap but it will perform better throughout vs. the other way around with the added benefit of more comfort.

Poly/multi is really unpopular on this site and multi/poly is all the rage now. It's just trends though. Multi mains have been horrible for me and I still use poly/multi.

Yes, a lot of people say a setup like tour bite mains (sharp string) and multi crosses will break quickly the crosses quickly. Oddly, Solinco sells this exact hybrid set. I have not had this happen, but also only used it for like 5 hours.

I use Volkl Cyclone mains and OG Micro Sheep crosses. It's an awesome setup and does not fray and does not lock up. My issue is that once the poly gets stiff, it's is incredibly stiff. But that's just poly.

I use gut mains and HyperG soft crosses. I break the gut in about 15 hours playing a mix of singles and doubles. It works for me as the poly goes dead around the same time anyway and so I don’t need longer longevity from the gut. I like this better (also HyperG crosses) than any round poly I tried especially as the stiffer ones die really fast.

If you go multi/poly you may as well put a round poly in the cross, give the multi a little extra longevity.
