Shapovalov - the player everyone wants to avoid in the Wimbledon draw

A few hairs turn to grey when Roger Federer have nightmares of getting Denis Shapovalov in his side of the draw at Wimbledon this year. Rafael Nadal is as terrified of Shapovalov as he is of the Wimbledon doors.

That says it all, doesn’t it? Shapovalov is the player that the top players least want to face at Wimbledon. The Canadian’s ranking does not match his unique talent yet (which is a disgrace in itself), meaning that a top player will have to face Shapovalov in one of the earlier rounds.

Whoever of Federer and Nadal that lands Shapovalov on their side of the draw will have to go through what will likely be one of the toughest draws in Open Era history.

Relentlessly wrong.

It would be everyone's wet dream to draw Shapovalov in an early round. His NextGen brainless bashing would result in tons of UEs and actually minimise the opponent's workload to leave them as fresh as possible for the real matches coming up.

Newsflash, Shappy Sappy fans: there WAS a big threat in this draw, just be grateful he's no longer playing. The Big 4 sure as hell are relieved. They'll avoid a Centre Court castration.

Shapavalov grass court history...:
Queens 2018: Loss vs #46
Stuttgart 2018: Loss vs # 169
Wimbledon 2017: Loss vs #141
Queens 2017: Loss to #14, win vs #47, win vs #404, win vs #125
Nottingham 2017: Loss to #103

The more he plays on grass the worse he seems to get.

According to my source close to the Shapo camp, confirmed to me that Shapovalov treats these warm up events as exhibition events. The plan is to start peaking at this year’s Wimbledon. Remember, Federer went out in the 1st round in 2002, only to come back a year later and win the title. There’s no doubt in my mind that Shapovalov could do the same.

Same old, same old. When talking about Berdych and his game, everything starts with a ”was”. He ”was a threat”, he ”was good looking”, ”he was a winner at the Paris Masters over a decade ago” etc etc

Shapovalov is all about the present and the future.

When the future is this bleak and terrible, then all we have is the present and the past to look at ;)

Even as an attempt at humour this is about the limits of your capacity to be funny.

Wimbledon is just a week away! Hold on to your horses, Shapovalov is about to set the tennis world on fire!
