Shapovalov v. Djokovic

I'm well aware that Djokovic is the heavy favourite here. However, Denis has really lifted his game in the past 5 months. His ROS is noticeably better as is his footwork and point construction. He also seems to play a more patient tennis rather than constantly trying to hit big winners. So, does anyone here believe he can win tonight? I hate predicting but of course my heart says that Denis could pull it out in 3.

Anyone else care to weigh in?

No, Djokovic in 2. One set might make it to 7 games. Denis has come a long way, but Djokovic is Djokovic. I need to see a more convincing win than 2 TBs over Tsitsipas to believe.

A lot of things would seem to me to indicate that he's going to give Nole a close shave anyway.
1- This is team play which gives him direct support
2- He can look at Paris and study that game
3- His form seems to keep improving
4- Nole hasn't yet shown his top form
5- His nerves will be more settled than he was at the final in Paris

The under 4.5 sets on Shapo is a good bet but I believe Nole still wins, but Shapo has a chance.

I think he can

I don't think he will

I just hope he puts up a spirited effort and puts himself in position to compete. No 2&2 scorelines please.

Funny how it says Israel but w the Canadian flag!
So he isnt a Canadian citizen but plays for Canada? Is that possible?

I have seen him fake gassed or temporarily tired but he seems totally spent not even halfway through a BO3 exo. Shapo looks quite red himself. But not as lethargic.
Probably just really hot.
Good for them to get used to the Australian heat before AO I guess.

Shapovalov is gradually turning into another thiem alike player for djok, if he does not beat him he'll tire nole out.
Djok needs to be agressive against these ballbashers.

But shap is learning quicker with youzny than he did in entire 2 years from 2017 to 2019.
If he turns into another thiem for novak, it's a big mistake to wait and push imo..
Of course would it be true if Shapovalov becomes similar to Thiem. The problem for Djokovic is that more and more players can trouble him if he isn’t at his absolute best. Federer and Nadal have it easier because they can destroy the opponent’s game much better due to their own game and not only their endurance.

Not true for federer post 2017..
His dinosaur age makes life hard for him nowadays
