1 set all. :)

Denis is sterling when it comes to saving BPs behind serve. If he can also harness his ability to create and waste BPs on return, I see him as a worthy heir to the throne.

the last edmund service game was a promising development in this regard.

Cilic unable to take 2 breaks from the Schwartz. Schwartzman knocks Cilic out of the tournament in 4. Isner is now the highest seed in this half.

The only other teenagers that I was this impressed with were Becker and Pete, especially the mental aspect of the game. Denis doesn't choke much and loves the big stage, isn't intimidated at all.

We are officially guaranteed a first time slam finalist in the bottom half. Will it be Shapo? Will it be Edmund? Who knows, but whomever it is will have to battle past either Querrey or Isner to get there.

True dat. He manages to be extremely intense and into it in a way that isn't self-defeating (Murray's antithesis then). Competitor's attitude.

Feel like I'm stating the obvious, but there are more momentum swings coming in this match. I don't think the rest of it is going to go all Shapovalov's way.

Denis' last name is probably the most butchered name in tennis. I've heard "Sha-vo-LA-lov", "Sha-PO-va-lov", "Sha-vo-PA-lov".

Apparently, it's supposed to be: Shaa-poh-VA-luv (Stress on "VA"). And the first name is pronounced "Dennis" like tennis.

Devastating hitting by Shaps, I foresee a great many highlight reels on You Tube.

Edmund is better than he is looking because Shap can return outrageous.
yea, but Edmund's serve should be better. his upright stature diminishes his uncoiling on the serve and his defensive movement.

its like he's subconsciously protecting his back. I wonder if he's had a back injury before...

I like the New York style: Sh-POV-love
