The reporting requirement was SPECIFICALLY instituted to prevent what she did, that is to take LEGAL drugs to improve performance. It is SPECIFICALLY there in the rules to prevent any abuse of medications for performance purposes.

I don't think people are saying that she is "ugly." She is cute in her own ways and better than most women, by the looks. However, she is way to much overrated as a "model" and as a sportswoman. I like how they always try to hide her big feet by using high heels, hiding her feet, or using angles. There's nothing wrong with having big feet. However, generally people don't like to be deceived (by edited or selective pictures, false statements or cheating athletes). That's it.

The most fascinating revelation from the book for me was finding out how large Serena looms in Sharapova's mental life, to the point where she has thought about it extensively and it dominates a lot of her thoughts about being a professional tennis player and what it means to her psychologically. I always thought Sharapova compartmentalized Serena as her on-court nemeses but didn't think about her once the match was finished (perhaps to her detriment). Boy was I wrong......
I am in the unique position of being someone who is a HUGE Sharapova fan and HUGE Serena fan. I really like them both. The book has been an intriguing read for me. Don't believe the hype from the excerpts that have been released online, though. There is much to consume in this book beyond the thoughts about Serena. There is some great deep dish info served on pro tennis generally, and Sharapova writes a lot of really heavily detailed commentary about the interesting players she has faced over the years, her formative years (rarely discussed before) and the state of the game.
Even if you don't like Sharapova she has a unique insight because she is in a category now where she is one of those players that has now played across multiple mini eras. She has seen a lot and she worked with a biographer that didn't filter her voice at all.
If you're not a huge Shara fan and don't want to give too much money to Sharapova, Inc., the e-book versions can be had pretty cheaply at a few online retailers.

While I agree Serena's despicable behaviour was an exception, it should also be noted that this use of language regarding Serena is also an exception in this board. Not only is it an exception, but it's usually undertaken by people who aren't regular members, or who - as cowards or trolls - create accounts in order to spill their hateful thoughts and get banned.
You're making it sound like someone calls her an animal every day, which is absolutely untrue. So if you're willing to point out one exception, you should also be willing to acknowledge the other. You can't point to a single instance where I or any other rational Serena detractor (and I'm not always a Serena detractor, as many people here know) in this board have insulted her in the ways you describe.

I've been around here long enough to know the opposite. With nearly every match thread where Serena is mentioned, a Williams-related thread of any kind, or even topic that initially had nothing to do with Serena, in comes the usual suspects either trolling every Serena loss, re-posting that minor incident at the USO in photo or comment, and yes, racist, utterly dehumanizing posts--coded or overt (like the gang and "thug" reference in this thread) have been posted with great frequency. You may not see it, but that's only due to quick alerts to moderators to delete such posts...and its not just the work of regular members and their alternate accounts.
