Share your Match video!!

A set against the weird older dude who needs his eyes checked. It’s almost like he’s forgotten he’s being filmed. Using the Max 200g with natural gut strings.
I’m in the black shirt.
You did hit it into that shadow....lol
:-D
I was curious, because I see you post alot about old racquets, and you clearly must have quite a few, how do you rotate between them?
Random, a standardized way, very curious?
I've got too many racquets and was thinking of trying to use more of them more often

looking good. but why the old racket?

wait is that the guy who quit and walked off in another match?
Yes. My favorite punching bag older hitting partner. He won fewer games than when I used my usual ‘real’ racket.

As for why? Idk it was a thrift store find and looked interesting.

After taking over a month off, I was finally able to edit and publish another video. This was the last footage from the USTA Mid West Tri Level sectionals back in November. This is 3rd round action of Illinois versus South East Michigan, NTRP 4.5 doubles flight. Early Sunday morning was tough for the players.

I haven't looked for abuse, I mean shared a video, in a long time. I'm the old fat guy in the dark clothes who is trying to play singles for the first time in 6 months in case we need another option for men's 40+ 3.5 sectionals. The crafty switch-hitting guy in grey is our team's regular singles player. We played a set plus two games in an hour and 45 minutes before we "ran out of time" (no way was I extending the court reservation, lol). This is a "highlights" video.

Comments welcome (gulp).

That looks like so much fun. Were you tempted to play barefoot?
Nah I wore my clay shoes because last time I tried hard court shoes and slid around like crazy. Clay shoes worked pretty well I gotta say. After bageling this guy in the first set I broke out a more challenging stick, but playing barefoot was likely a step too far.

You’re a lot better than your partner.
I would say that I’m a high 3.5 and the others are mid to lower. Not taking shots or anything, but I’ve played two out of the three of them and won pretty handily. The other three guys were all on the same 3.5 team in summer league. I think they’re all three better athletes than I am, but I’ve also been playing tennis for a very long time for a 3.5 lol

Nice serve, try standing a little bit back from the net when not serving/returning, allows you to move diagonally forward to volley or back...

Against that team though I understand the temptation, no threats at all really.

Hi everyone! It's been a crazy year for me so far and I haven't been able to consistently upload or video edit matches. Last year my team and I played in an Impact Team Tennis, or World Team Tennis as it was called back then, in Chicago and won the tournament. Winning that tournament gave us the option to move on to regionals and gave us the freedom to choose where we want to play it. Because everyone's schedule was so different, we were able to go to Las Vegas for their "regional" tournament this past May. We and another Chicago team were the only teams that was not from the west coast, which was fun. Footage above is the 1st round versus Arizona, representing Illinois. This was also my first match back from injury in November. Needless to say, it was good to be back with the team and competing again.

Never heard the name change to Impact, and don't see it much here in AZ, or maybe not promoted as much where I play. Anyway, feels good to get back on court after being out, for sure.

Watch the first few games. Not sure how the match developed, but if either team just started chipping back the ROS, that's a match changer.

My understanding is that they went bankrupt so this may be one of the last events held by them

@takayukih, did you like the format for Impact Team Tennis, when compared with USTA league? I read through the some of the rule changes for Impact, such as playing "no-ad", no service lets, coaching, and allowing folks to sub in players. Seems interesting.

If I could find enough folks, I would like to try it out sometimes and see if I would prefer a Impact Team Tennis match versus a standard USTA league one.

I’m personally not a fan. I don’t have an issue with the scoring but rather the idle time of sitting around between sets. I’d rather play USTA format of playing a match in its entirety, if that makes sense. ITT kinda messes with your rhythm

I played it a few times and enjoyed it. It was more fun when I got to play at least two sets during a team match (both doubles or singles & doubles). It's also more fun with a spirited team. Close team matches were exciting when it came down to the last mixed doubles match and everyone is cheering. I don't think I would choose it over USTA league but it was a cool change of pace.

Below is the 2nd round matchup between Illinois and Los Angeles at the 2023 Impact Team Tennis Las Vegas Regionals back in May! This 2nd and 3rd round was moved from Darling tennis center to UNLV’s tennis campus. My first tournament since injury back in November and while I personally didn’t play up until the mixed doubles portion, it was a lot of fun being able to play and compete again. If you watch enough, you’ll notice that there are a lot of airplanes flying over the courts/campus. That is because UNLV is right next to their airport so it was definitely annoying playing under airplanes every minute, especially while editing these match footages.

Not my best match but a win is a win. I'll say this the last few mins get a lot more entertaining. I could tell this guy wasn't liking a few of my close calls so I made sure to replay them. I forgot to add a title between sets. Scores were 6/3, 7/5.

I'm in blue, using a Yonex Super RQ300 that I found at a thrift store for $2.25

Last match for the Impact Team Tennis series. Playing in Las Vegas was a privilege as Chicago during this time was still on the colder side. This matchup between Illinois vs Irvine, who was eventual winner of this tournament, was tough as they were playing very well and handling the conditions better than us. Not only was the high elevation affection my team's ball projection, but the sun was in a very bad spot for serving in general. It got to the point where I had to hold back from my usual serving and took away some of my advantages. Overall great experience playing in impact team tennis but until then, I'm back to the USTA grind
