The video title is cutoff to say "National Double...", and I thought it was going to be something like National Doubles Championship. I LOL'ed when I saw the actual title "National Double Cheeseburger Day" - nice.
some questions:Probably my best match all year. Down to the wire, with the 2nd set going to time, I needed a match tiebreak to get the win.
I'm the guy that looks like the guy in my avatar, same hat and all. Racket: Adidas Barricade.
Yes. He did get that overhead back in.some questions:
13:00 - did you opponent get that overhead back and IN?
14:42 - your opponent does a pushup for missing an easy forehand. Is he in the military?
Angles a bit low to get a decent view of the court, maybe try getting a taller tripod or trying a fence mount?1st set

3rd set
I know its hard to watch the other side of the court but I don't want my vid to look like those ones from Swingvision lolAngles a bit low to get a decent view of the court, maybe try getting a taller tripod or trying a fence mount?
I honestly wish I had more to say about this match but we just straight up chocked. Nothing to it, too good from our opponents. Looking back though, it was nice to see my partner and I make a comeback from being down 1-4 in the first set and still continued to fight hard with intensity for the remainder of the match. Constructive criticism welcomed, however, as you'll see me struggle in form for the next few matches...
I honestly don’t remember haha. But it was very unlikely it was out and I may have just gave them the ball as I kept my service game with that ace. This was a match I honestly want to forget about to be honestNice ace at 4:52Was his call overturned by his partner?
I'm not a pickleball hater like a lot of people on the forum, but those lines are super annoying on that court. I would expect it would be really hard to call lines in singles on the left sideline.
The last big tournament for me this year ended at the USTA Mid West Mixed Doubles sectional tournament. I only played in this 3rd round against Wisconsin, representing Illinois. Unfortunately lost a close match that could've gone either way. Tough having a match point and serving for the match twice only to get broken but that is part of the sport. Great learning experience overall though, and excited for future matches in 2024. I mentioned in my previous post that I was using a different frame. This match, I switched back to my trusty pure aero plus and played so much better. I'm back to my regular level of tennis so I'm excited for future matches and tournaments, especially since I'll be finishing my MBA this upcoming April.
It looks like you could probably play in 4.0 soon if not already.First time watching myself play tennis in 10+ years. Some good habits, some bad habits. I'm the guy in the backwards hat, rocking the "Drink Local Beer" tshirt.
I don't think most folks on this forum would care so much about pickleball players, if they didn't play on tennis courts. We just want our courts to be available to play tennis. I hate reading stories of tennis courts owners, whether private or public, replacing tennis courts with pickleball courts. I want tennis to grow, just so I know I will have other tennis players to play.I'm not a pickleball hater like a lot of people on the forum
His good is real good, but his average is REAL 3.5 lol. No shade there, I very much put myself in the same category. I’ve been playing up some in some mixed and half point leagues. The two big things I’ve found with my gameIt looks like you could probably play in 4.0 soon if not already.
The short guy with the hat looked pretty good, too.
Yeah. Your net game could be a bit better. I can see how a 4.0 or 4.5 might be able to exploit that. His good is real good, but his average is REAL 3.5 lol. No shade there, I very much put myself in the same category. I’ve been playing up some in some mixed and half point leagues. The two big things I’ve found with my game
1) my serve is big enough to give 3.5s trouble, but it has to be better placed to be effective against 4.0s (I also need a flat serve against 4.0s)
2) there’s too many easy vollies I don’t put away. Some balls need to be winners and I struggle going for the right amount on them. Tend to redline one direction or the other too much
Was this a USTA match? What level? Seems like a big difference in level between the two of you.Played some excellent tennis the other day with an old Yamaha 90 frame. First time using it and it felt like an old friend. Put the hurting on this guy from about 3 games on. I went stretches during set 2 where I didn't lose a point for several games, whole match lasted 45 mins. But hey, it's a league match, this is what he signed up for. Scores: 6/2, 6/1 me.
I'm in the red shirt, white shorts.
Your opponent is one of the few rec players who uses his forehand to just keep himself in the point but his bh is his attack side. Excellent level of tennis from both of you.Probably my best match all year. Down to the wire, with the 2nd set going to time, I needed a match tiebreak to get the win.

It’s a 4.0/4.5 group that typically plays matches at night on weekdays. Was this a USTA match? What level? Seems like a big difference in level between the two of you.
The guy in blue seems to be foot faulting pretty noticeably.
Played a match for the first time in a few weeks (maybe in a month). Haven't touched a racket during this time as I was focusing more of my attention in the gym and fitness. This time, at a NTRP 9.0 mixed doubles match. Don't think we played too poorly at the beginning. From what I saw, our opponents played too good and we gave them too many easy balls to put away. Shoutout to my partner for being an anchor for us as she was encouraging us to be patient. Fortunately, we were able to pull it off and run away with this match.
Watch me loaf around the court, I'm in blue.

That's what I thought but slowing down to frame by frame his left foot seems to be just above the court on ball impact at least on the first two serves. Still with such a fine margin I'd expect he'd get questioned on it fairly oftenThe guy in blue seems to be foot faulting pretty noticeably.
Not a bad idea, but I think he would adjust, he's pretty good. I do loaf, my footwork is terrible!Really cool to have such an awesome coach give you some pointers. It is interesting that she thinks your serve and volley could be a big weapon. It makes sense. I do not play at that level but when I play someone with a solid lefty slice serve early on I really just trying to focus on making a decent contact with the ball and not having it hit the inside of my racquet when I hit a forehand return. If the lefty also served and volleyed before I could sort of line up the returns it could very easily become a bad day at the courts. I wonder if you just came out charging from your very first game if you could really throw your opponent off.
As far as her comment about loafing- alright sure we never look as energetic as we think we should. And she has a point, but it really doesn't help that she literally slows down the video while pointing it out! If I want to see my best tennis I watch my match video sped up.
Is there any reason Swingvision is used besides to sponsor/generate clicks? It was wildly inaccurate a few years ago when it debuted and it hasn’t changed at all it seems.Watch me loaf around the court, I'm in blue.

Doubtful. If he is actually footfaulting it’s just the outside edge of the side of his left foot barely clipping the back of the line. Nobody is calling that from across the net. It’s a trivial detail tbh. I’ve seen much much worse in men’s 4.5 tournaments within the last month and nobody said anything. Even though everyone can see that the guy literally has his entire foot inside the court when he makes contact with the ball.Still with such a fine margin I'd expect he'd get questioned on it fairly often
Your opponent plays like Ben (aka MEP).This weekends match, pretty entertaining I hope. Certainly a clash of styles. sorry by chance we're both wearing a red shirt, but I'm the one in the white hat, and the one who like to actually put some mustard on the ball.
-edit sorry for the moment of dead air near the start. Sometimes I forget to clip it all out.
I find it is fairly accurate now, not sure about serve mph though. Is there any reason Swingvision is used besides to sponsor/generate clicks? It was wildly inaccurate a few years ago when it debuted and it hasn’t changed at all it seems.
He was a recent bump from 3.5. Apparently he had won 25 matches in a row at that level.Your opponent plays like Ben (aka MEP).
Those types of players can test your mental game. I generally prefer playing them knowing the game is on my racket (I also tend to match up well with my aggressive style). But that doesn't make them easy to beat, because they won't beat themselves. He was a recent bump from 3.5. Apparently he had won 25 matches in a row at that level.
When warming up I thought I was gonna double bagel him, and was getting quite frustrated that he kept getting games off me. Really I was going for too much or being lazy at times. I edited out a bunch of balls that I missed just going for ‘highlight reel’ material lol. I was willing to go for them because I figured there was no way in a million years this kid could actually beat me. But as a result it was far closer than it should have been.
