Here I am playing a league match with a Walmart "Wilson Federer" racket just for the challenge. I put a leather grip and Luxilon string in it, and had never hit with it before the match started. Here's how it went. I'm in blue.

You put a leather grip and Luxilon strings on a Walmart racket. LOL. You've got too much money!

Back to playing competitive points! Just played a tournament in December and didn't do as well in singles but got to the final in doubles! Hoping to edit those soon as I'm trying out different formats!

Had one of my better tennis days, good 1st serve in %, not too many UEs, nice point construction, and relatively better net game. Started really well but at 5-1, intensity dropped as it was hard to keep it up in the mid day tropical heat against an opponent 10 years younger. Thankfully managed to close it out 6-3, 6-3.

We wore similar attires, but I’m in black shorts with a patella band on my right knee.

Nice hitting.
Just wondering, as I see leafs laying over the court in "all" your videos. Are you not afraid to slip on them and get injured?

Unfortunately, it only takes a gentle breeze for the trees surrounding the court to shed its leaves. We try our best to sweep before the session but it’s tough to keep the grounds clean. Thankfully it’s not as slippery to be a significant hazard. I would say a bad bounce off a leaf or twig concerns me more.

Played 3 sets of singles practice match with my college teammate. Both him and I were recovering from our surgeries/injuries and wanted to get back into the groove of it right away. He is recovering from eye surgery and myself with achilles surgery. Been 295 days since our surgeries.

Yeah, you can see the massive spin on those serves and forehands. Guy's real good.

Played a 5.0 with serves like that once. Could never get them back.

I know it's been close to a year since I last played tennis but I've been unhappy around this time when practicing, especially with the forehand side. For this practice match, I tried using semi-western forehand grip (usually use a full western). Long story short, I ended up staying with the full western forehand grip. I still feel like I play better with this grip. Eventually, you'll see me change rackets and I'll be explaining why but been playing my best to date with it. Can't wait for y'all to watch then.

I'm still behind on video editing but I'm slowly getting videos out again! This match was before I returned on court but I'll be uploading my own practices and matches soon again!

This match is a 4.0+4.5=8.5 NTRP combo mixed doubles league match.

Good match for sure - As a lefty it’s hard to watch another lefty not playing super lefty against a one handed backhand. If that makes sense
Your forehand is really heavy with big spin but your XXXL 90s shorts slow you down.

I too, observed he rarely hit to my backhand. I would go several games without hitting a single one lol. My shorts are from 2013, I checked the tag.

Oh boy, more entertaining moments that some might call drama during my recent night league match. I've played this guy a few times, but I guess his eyes were a bit tired because he seemed to miss far more calls than usual. I'd have been nicer in the edit, but when he got a bit angry at himself he took it out on my camera and could've broken the thing, so my pitchfork got a bit sharper than it otherwise might've. I started with the Pro Staff that I've got on loan from a friend, but due to reasons that become clear, I couldn't finish the match with it, so I change to the Reflex midsize. Just as good right?

Kudos to you for staying calm and focused after that... I would have lost it and even if I managed to somehow continue... I would have probably lost my focus and the match too and let this LOSER feel good about himself and his actions.

Eyes were a little tired! - that's a good one :-D

Oh, I said tired eyes because this is a night league on a work day! I swear that’s what I meant.

Your shot at 15.36 looks out, at 7-9 match-point down, but you can't be expected to call that from 20yds away! It looks like things even out over time!

I thank you for watching that long. And yeah it does appear I missed it, but then again it’s his call to play the ball, and he didn’t even protest or ask me if I thought it landed in or not. His fault for giving me a life line lol.

Exactly. Do you remember how it looked from your side?

Some highlights from a practice set before my first league match ever! I've been an off-and-on public park rec player since quitting competitive tennis at 14.

At 43 years old, strokes and movement slowly coming back after a few years without picking up a racket. Starting in 4.0 division.

Apologies for the poor video quality. Also a Swing Vision amateur!

I'm in light blue. Playing with 2023 Head Gravity Pro and loving it. I try to play an all-court game, mixing heavy groundstrokes with slice, drop shots and forward pressure. Definitely seeing some technical things to work on now that I have the video.

Despite losing and not being at my best, this was one of my more entertaining matches in recent times. Opponent (E. Fei) was on fire today and there were lots of well constructed points from both of us. Ultimately, I made too many UFEs and he did well to move me off the court with his signature insane FH short cross that he seems to be able to hit from any position off any type of ball!

Welcome any tips on how I could have played better. From my point of view, I should have attacked his serves more which lacked pace and at the very least taken a more aggressive return court position. I also fell into the trap of going for the spectacular whenever he pulled me way off the court. Lastly, I should have played with more margin above the net when hitting my aggressive flat shots (still adjusting to the launch angle of the Pure Drive which I’m play testing at the moment).

This could've ended up as a MEP type of match had this guy stuck with his only working gameplan of just giving me high junk balls. I did miss a few. But as soon as I changed tactics to basically rush the net all the time it was over. I hit more overheads this day than any other by far. This guy actually doesn't have a horrible record at 4.0 singles, but I am obviously a bad matchup for him.
First time I've played a guy who used a two handed forehand. Also the first time I've seen a guy wear a racquetball glove while playing tennis...

I've uploaded a video of my tennis match from Japan to YouTube, and I'd love to get some feedback.

I've been writing my thoughts in Japanese after each point of my match videos, and I recently added English subtitles.

It took a lot of time, so I'm wondering if there's any demand for this before I continue.

Turn on subtitles and check this out!

Are the courts real grass courts? or synthetic grass courts.

Nice playing overall.

This is a synthetic grass court.

I wonder if synthetic grass courts aren't the most popular in Japan?
Based on my feeling, there are more than hard courts.

The only synthetic grass court I've played on was in Singapore. The surface made hitting service winners much easier and returns much more difficult for me.

Flatter groundstrokes and slices also seemed more effective than on clay or hardcourts.

I want to try playing on a real grass court one day.

Exactly.
Clay and hard courts have an image of bouncing upwards, while synthetic grass feels like it skids deeper.

Playing on real grass is definitely a universal dream, isn't it?
