Shelton will beat Sinner

I'm a big Sinner fan and thought he would win W. But Grigor highlighted Sinners vulnerability on grass which is facing variety and someone who can use the angles and has a great slice.

Shelton can do all of what Grigor does just bigger. His slice BH is very good albeit not as good as Grigors bit still top draw and his FH spits venom and he can create Nadalesque angles with it. We know about the serve. Shelton also can volley very well. He is still very raw but his improvements are coming at a pace as we saw in Paris v Alcaraz for two sets.

I've said it from the start that Shelton could be the guy to take Sinner down and after today I'm sure of it shelton will not choke on Centre Court like so many 1st timers do, he will rise to the occasion. And folks he will give Djokovic trouble as well in the semis.

If there is a guy on tour who could do the seemingly impossible and beat back to back to back Sinner Djokovic and Alcaraz it's Ben Shelton if he gets on a roll. At times today v Sonego he was unplayable, the tie break especially.

Shelton cannot keep the ball in between the lines enough. If it was another player who could stress Sinner’s elbow and make him hit a lot of shots then maybe. Shelton will make 80 UEs as per usual bc he sucks at handling weighty shots. His timing is poor
Did u watch him today? Hardly any UFEs from either player. And did u see him v Alcaraz at RG? U r not seeing how rapidly he is improving.

Did you see their match at Wimbledon last year? I don’t see anything changing

Shelton has been experimenting with his setup and added a lot of mass to his recently racquet, which in turned has changed his playing style. He’s less error prone than in the past.

I don’t know if it will be enough to beat Sinner this Wimbledon, but I’ll be rooting for him.

Sinner in 3 man.

Shelton is improving but this match will be like Carlos against Rublev, Sinenr will drop the first or second set but in the end be too strong as I feel Shelton will eventually go for too much resulting in UE’s of high proportion

The important thing is that one of the two reaches the final and faces Alcaraz, the rest is secondary.

Good post. While Shelton can beat Sinner he has exactly ZERO chance vs Novak who has so much variety and so many options.
Shelton is NOT slam champion material.

It depends on Sinner s elbow. He has MRI appointment today, due to some strain .
If Sinner is 100% , he wins in 4 sets tops.
If not, Shelton can win

I have Djokovic as favourite against Sinner, and said so before Grigor exposed our #1.

RG final hurt Sinner severely.

Perhaps even Shelton is enough at this stage. Sinner looked dead against Dimitrov.

I agree, worst match ive seen Sinner play. I think Djokovic will win if it comes to that. Either way, cant see any of them beat Carlo in the final...

I dont see Shelton beating him unless his elbow remains a problem but I think Djokovic will. Sinner doesnt have the court craft, variety or movement on this surface to be a force on grass.

Much like clay, you get stretch him out far enough to either side and he looks like he's on skates trying to get back into position. It's beautiful

Well, grigors forehand is flatter and lower which sinner struggles with. he will have no problems with spinny loopy FHs like sheltons.

add in a worse slize and I think sinner will do him without too much fuzz.

Nahhh he's still not good enough to beat sinner

I don't think you or many others have watched much of Shelton..that's not a criticism as he hasn't been on the show courts so it takes effort to watch his matches instead of show court ones. I've been watching hi., trust me he has loads of variety now. It's not the shelton of 2 years ago

I have watched Shelton plenty. And while he has improved, Sinner can totally read his serve. Plus Shelton's backhand is suspect too.
If Sinner is healthy, he's going to wipe the floor with Ben.

Perhaps he will since Sinner seems hurt or just off.. Then we can see the athletic Phone Man vs. old Ultron. I'm picking ultron.

but, but he has never done this before, ....ever in a slam. Let alone beat two of them in a row. Never even made a slam final.
This forum has some of the most incredible hyperbolic player marketers , not necessarily the OP.

That said, he or she has a point. Because Shelton has improved a lot in the last year from what I've seen in every area. Sure he can beat an injured Sinner and maybe an off-day Djokovic in the SF's. If Carlos is off, which we know he can be at times. Ben could pull it off.
