Shoe comparison

Chris and/or Andy,

I'm looking for your take on a few different shoes. I currently rotate my Asics Solution Speeds and Resolution 5s. I love the comfort and light weight of the Speeds, but the durability is not as good as I'd like (4-5 weeks). The resolutions are kind of bland in comparison. They're not as comfortable or light-feeling as previous versions on my feet, but they're a little more durable and have a warranty. I love the Vapor 9, but wear them out in three weeks. I'm wondering if you can recommend a more durable shoe that still fits in the "match day" shoe category.

I'm considering the Feather 2 and 3 from Adidas, Yonex 308, and the Barricade 8 among the Resolution 5 and Solution Speed. I don't necessarily need light weight if the stability is above average. I liked the Barricade 7 because my foot did not move in it, so I felt very secure sprinting in all directions, but it wore out quickly in the toe area and I began to slip frequently after about 5 weeks. The new ones have a different outsole pattern and lighter weight...would they be suitable? I know I have a lot of options listed, so I'm tempted just to stick with the Speed and bear with the durability, but if something better is out there, I might as well try it, no?

My foot is a medium-narrow width with a medium arch. The only shoes I've had trouble wearing are the Ballistec 3.3 and 4.3.

How about trying the Raptors IV? They're heavier but they feel fast; great stability, good durability and a warranty. If you're complaining about durability of lightweight shoes like V9s and GSS, it's isn't wise to look at the Feathers, as great as they are. If you love comfort the 308s are worth looking at too, the cushioning is superb; the ventilation isn't. The Barricade 8 are wider than the 7s but as long; not sure you'd like it.

I'd suggest the new adidas Feather III and the Lotto Ultra Raptor. The Feather is more of a speed-oriented design, like the Solution Speed, but will provide excellent stability and better durability. The Raptor is more similar to the Resolution but is just an all-around great shoe. Give those two a try!
