Shoe durability by the hour

Just wondering if anyone has kept track of how many hours they get from their shoes vs the price. I've tried various Prince shoes paying an average of $49/pair, getting an estimated 100-150 hours (mostly hardcourt) per pair before getting a hole in the right sole. So lets say the Prince's are costing me 40 cents per hour.

I've finally come around to justifying buying more expensive shoes that will be more comfortable and hopefully last longer. I ordered Reebok MDP and Barricade II ($70.00-$75.00) yesterday based on all the positive posts about these shoes. I'm wondering whether I can expect the price to even out with the Prince's through increased wear. In other words, if I can get 180-185 hours out of the IIs and MDPs, they will be the same price as the Princes.

Are ther any other shoes that can compare with MDP for comfort and durability ? The Fila 2005 Opens look like a contender, but have very little feedback.

The Barricade II's will give you better durability and overall performace than any Prince shoe. Price is something to consider, but you pretty much always get what you pay for (except if you buy Nike). I think Adidas and Reebok are the two best producers of tennis shoes, personally. I have never tried to compare shoes on an hour-by-hour basis. Some shoes can last too long, though. Even if the outsole doesn't wear out, the support and cushion can, which isn't very good for playing tennis.

Diadora Maverick (2002)

I bought these shoes a couple of weeks and they provide a good illustration of the cost per hour comparison. These shoes were marked down from $69.95 to $19.88. Since all my other tennis shoes had holes, I bought them as a stop gap while I decided what to order from TW.

I played 7 hours of singles and 8 hours of doubles. These shoes have lousy cushioning, giving me the sensation of having a quarter in the bottom of the shoe. The shoes have delivered consistent out-of-the-box pain from minute one to hour 15. They were barely tolerable playing slow-paced doubles on clay, but it was blisterama playing hard court singles. The only good thing that I can say about these shoes is that they were a nice color. White.

My MDP and II's are due to arrive tommorrow, so I'm retiring the mavericks.
At $1.32 per hour, these shoes were no bargain. About the only other possible use for these shoes might be to wear to church.
