Shoe struggles

Looking for some shoe advice - I've been striking out and having to waste time returning shoe after shoe.

Some history: my favorite shoe ever was the Nike Ballistec 4.3. It may be a bit heavy for my liking now but found it to be the perfect fit. I have a medium width foot, very flat feet, and pretty bad over-pronation.

The only current shoe (and current is a stretch) I find comfortable and usable is the vapor 9.5. The new colorway and durability is just atrocious (I have work down the outside heel completely after ~50 hours of tennis), but its the only current shoe I've gotten along with. Some shoes I've tried (and my issues with each):

- Fila Axilus 2 not enough cushioning, heel just floating (not locked in)
- Adidas barricade and solecourt boost felt clunky and hit my arch at the wrong spot
- Asics Gel Resolution too narrow
- Head revolt pro 4.0 too narrow/short in size 12
- K Swiss Hypercourt Supreme fairly comfy but clunky

Any flat footers fine the right balance of speed/support?

What you might like coming from the old Vapors is the Asics Solution Speed FF 2's. Only thing I'm not sure of is how they'd feel for someone with flat feet. I would say they're probably a bit more durable than the Vapors, but still more of a "speed" oriented shoe. They might be a little bit wider than the GRs also, but I can't say for sure.

Might also suggest to try Mizuno if you haven't already.

how can I tell if my feet are flat or not? I have had the same pair of feet my whole life and haven't used a second pair of feet for comparison.

I have medium width, and low arch.
The Asics gel Challenger is perfect width for me, as well as the Wilson Rush pro. Both required no break in at all and were comfortable right out of the box, and both relatively light weight and still had decent lateral support. I purchased a number of both a few years back since they fit so well, and now getting down to the end of my supply, so will be ordering more relatively soon. Good luck in your choice.

Awesome advice - and same with the Asics FF rec above. Thanks all!

Had flat feet my whole life - foot pumps don’t work either.
Apart from the fortune I’ve spent on custom orthotics, in recent years Nike Zoom Vapor Cage 4s have been great for extended comfort - watch Zac the Foot Doctor’s review - although compared with Ballistics you’ll feel like you’re standing on the shoe more than in the shoe, although the wrap around feeling is still there to a degree. Yonex Eclipsion 4s are lower & more minimalist but still stable and are more dynamic regarding match play.
