I remember, last year, one shoe manufacturer was going to come out with some hard court sliding shoes. Does anyone else remember that?
Probably so. I have not read anymore about them except when they were talking about bringing them out. Sounded like some real ankle turners to me. TY for remembering the name of them. Are you talking about those Wilson Glide shoes?

Those shoes are really old, IMO it’s not a good idea to make a shoe purposefully slick. If you look at the outsole, there’s a part that’s like purposefully just not grippy, which makes you be able to “slide” easier. However, barricades have amazing traction and Djoker and many others have slid in them, so to sum up my rambling I don’t recommend the Wilson glide lol.Probably so. Forget the shoes make sure your ankles and knees can take it!I'm an older player at 43 and have not slide much on hard as I think it does take practice to execute correctly and safely.
If anyone has drills to help this please share them.
Thank you.
Maybe vapor x? Doesn’t have much upper durability but if that isn’t a problem the shoe is alright. What are the slickest shoes out there? Not “slick shoes” like in the Goonies - shoes that have soles that are good for sliding yet still support the ankle. My fav current shoe is the zoom zero. But I have been wearing my cage 3’s when executing “operation slide by end of summer”. The Ubersonic 3 was slick but didn’t care fir the shoe otherwise. The zoom zero is great but maybe too grippy or sit too high to slide - but pros slide in the zz no problem. The cafe 3’s were my fav but now gone. Cage 4 was too unstable, gel res 8 too wide.

Well they won’t keep the pattern very long, and they aren’t comparable to say, a barricade or cage or gel resolution. However I have had a pair I’ve worn for multiple tournaments and it hasn’t gotten a hole through the rubber, but the pattern has disappeared except for some little Nubs in the heel and forefoot.sole durability more of a problem here
adidas shoes are goodDoes anyone have any suggestions for tennis shoes that have slicker outsoles for hardcourt sliding? I currently wear the Asics Court FF2 and they are great, but I am just looking for additional suggestions to keep my shoe range open. Thanks!
Maybe I don’t have enough foot speed but I could never get enough give on full herringbone shoes like the barricade or solecourt, or hell Adidas’ ENTIRE LINEUP.adidas shoes are good
I second this. I haven’t tried the FF2 because of that price point but I have a pair of GR8’s and they are nice. The traction definitely is not rip your knees out of their sockets, it’s a nice soft bite that has a nice give.ASICS COURT FF2 & Gel Res
Hardcourts are not for sliding.
Djokovic is going to be responsible for a whole generation of rec players ruining their bodies.
For me the original Asics Court FF was the best hard Court sliding shoe. It did wear a lot faster then most shoes but for me they were the GOAT. I could move in them like driving a Ferrari or Porsche. Only if I stocked up on them. I then tried the FF2s. They are still very good for sliding but I ended up selling them after a few sessions. I didn't like the uppers as much and the overall fit was not as enjoyable. I since have moved on to the Nike Cage 4s. I can slide in them but nothing like the Asics. They feel heavey and a little clunky but the durability is off the charts. My knees and joints love the Cage 4s.Reviving this old thread instead of starting a new one:
Anyone have an updated list of slicker shoes to try? I like the fit in the toe box of New Balance Lav's, but the snugness and sliding I get out of my Cage 3s... Had my eyes on FF2s and Barricades but the latter I used to get crazy arch pains not sure if they've changed to the formula in the updated version.
oh interesting you had joint pains with the FF and FF2s?For me the original Asics Court FF was the best hard Court sliding shoe. I didn't have joint or knee pain with ffs when they were fresh. But I played in them too long with the insole or some parts of the shoe blown out. I have been able to play in the cage 4s for way more time with no issues. My tread is wearing out which has made it easier to slide but the insole and cushioning is still fantastic. I have one brand new pair of cage 4s still in the box. I thought I was going to need to use them to start the spring but so far they are still great.oh interesting you had joint pains with the FF and FF2s?
