Shoes for Sliding on Hard Courts! HELP ANDY!!!

In a review of the babolat propulse, Andy stated that he had an issue with the medial side of the upper due to his sliding on a hard court. I slide a TON on a hard court, I have the exact same issue. I have only had one shoe EVER that has not been destroyed in the medial side of the upper: Wilson Glide. Unfortunately, this outsole did not last me very long, but the medial upper remained intact. Also this shoe cost me $225 and is not officially released yet. Most shoes only last me two weeks before I rip a hole through the shoe and my sock.

So far my only solution has been using an adidas barricade (great outsole) and then using gorilla glue to attach a large rubber pad to medial side of the upper.

Please Andy (or anyone else) give me some good news! Whats a good medial side padded shoe?

Shoes with 6-month durability guarantees?
Doesn't matter if he puts an hole in the upper before the insole.

Except not sliding as much (long term solution) and buying more Wilson Glide, I can't think of many things you can do. Personally I just tend to snap laces instead...

For sliding on the hard courts, I love both the Asics premium offerings - the Gel Resolution 6 and Solution Speed (2 or 3). They offer a slightly slicker outsole, but it's still very predictable when trying to grab the court and make an aggressive cut. The Gel Resolution will offer a bit more durability than the Solution Speed, although I haven't had an issue with either of them wearing out on the medial side of the upper. Both of them offer enough protection for me in that area.

Another good option to consider would be the Barricade 2016, which now has a re-designed piece on the medial side that offers really good protection for players that slide. The Barricade 2015 had the little "dots" that would come off after a while, but the 2016 version fixes this issue.

Hopefully that helps!

I slide with the pguard being grazed all the time. the pguard near the top 2 eyelets and the huge asics logo made out of cardboard like leather also gets extremely worn out when using the GR6
do you recommend me using the speed solution 3?
thanks a lot

My 16 year old slides on hard courts and can wear through the side of his shoe in a couple of hours on some indoor courts! Tried various things to patch the hole, including gluing on a strip of silicone rubber- nothing seemed to stick the silicone properly to the shoe material :( Recently found a product called Sugru which is a mouldable rubber glue which sets hard overnight. This is working really well. Nike Lunar ballistec seem to be the most hard wearing, but expensive, but if anyone can suggest a more robust shoe that's a reasonable price, bearing in mind I don't want him to wreck his joints I would be very grateful.

same here. try the gel speed solution or the resolution. I am going to try to patch it up with 5 centimeter thick leather in the p guard near the two top eyelets.

Barricade boost 2015/16 have not worn the 16 yet but reviews seem to lean toward them being better. I would go through the outsole of lb in 16 weeks barricade in about 20

extreme sliding? or just normal. I slide to reach every shot and cannot recommend the B9 or 10 the fabric on the upper wouldn't last long if you slide like Tom cat on ice. a better option wouldbe the Wilson glide or ,like I said, the gel resoulution or speed solution.

I haven't had any issues with b9, been through 2 pair and the uppers held up well. Currently wearing b9 boost and like them even better. Outsole holds up the best of all brands I have tried.
Concerning my sliding I slide a lot but not overly aggressive.

the medial side on my shoes can thin out very quickly because I pronate a lot and it adds more pressure and contact area as well as contact force between my shoes and the court. i run a lot with a 370 gram racquet to catch a lot of balls and it gets shredded.

So, I finally wore the Wilson Glide. First of all, the slippery plates became a non-issue after just a couple of minutes, and the shoes felt fine with nice cushioning and support. It was comfortable as well.

One thing I noticed afterwards (played about 1 hour of rallying and three hours of doubles), I had the same foot pains in the heel area and the bottom of the foot that I always get after playing. The only shoes that I really have no foot pains afterwards is the Asics Gel Resolution 6. Not sure what it is, but Wilson does feel as cushioned as AGR6, but at the end of the day, I got that foot pain... that I get from any brand/style, except for the AGR6.

As far as skidding and stuff goes, I didn't really notice too much difference. I think that's good thing. There was a very subtle slippage on the hard stops and skids, but my feet were nicely planted and balanced and never felt unstable or slippery.

Further review...

Today, as I was reacting & chasing after a sharp cross court backhand, my foot slipped under me and almost sprained my ankle real badly. This shoe is so unpredictable with its footing that I don't think I will be wearing them again. I think Wilson messed up with this concept. Wilson should have gone the route that AGR6 soles. While the sole is grippy, I can skid and slide somewhat in those shoes. With Wilson Glide, it's either complete slippage or full traction. Hard to feel confident wearing shoes like that.
