Shoes with higher heel?

I'm looking for a shoe with a higher heel than average. I don't mean a thicker sole overall, just in the heel. In the shoe industry they call this the heel height differential. Running shoes are generally 1/2", tennis shoes seem to be more like 1/4". 1/2" would be good for me.

I know this is generally a negative in a lateral movement sports shoe as it can lead to rolled ankles, but I've got my reasons.

The shoe would also need to be wider than average.

Anyone here with extensive tennis sneaks experience come across such a shoe?

No expert but I get the feeling that the heel is significantly higher in my Barricade Vs than in my Prince T-9 Roadsters. Put in Superfeet Orange insoles and the heel feels quite high vs. the forefoot.

EDIT: Re: wider than average I have read on these forums that the Barricades are considered wider than average but they don't feel all that wide to me in the forefoot. They actually fit me quite snug up there. I have wide thick feet and my T-9s are wider. Traction is better on the Barricades however and so is arch support. I'm still searching for the perfect shoe too!

sorry, don't know any court shoes with "higher heel"

but, since i wear custom-made orthopedic insoles, i know that this would be easy done of any good orthopedic technicain (don't know the correct name in english)

a friend of mine has a shorter leg since an accident (1/4 inch) - he got this regulated with insoles.

Hey Corners,

Nike Breathe Cage II would fit the bill. I have a wider than average foot (E), and these fit pretty good (fairly snug for me, but no pinching), with about the largest heel height differential I've experienced.

Insoles can do the trick as well. Superfeet is a common choice, and of the Blue, Green, and Orange - the Orange would provide this greatest differential.

Good luck!

Thanks guys! I was looking at the T9s because of the width, but it sounds like I should try Barricades, Breath Cage 2 and Propulse 2. I'm heading out to try some on now:)
