Yeah, on second thought, he might be a 6.0?

I saw a 5.5 play a 5.0... The guy in the video seems to be hitting consistantly harder than the hardest shots I saw from the 5.5 guy. It also seems like he is hitting a bunch long as well and possibly not where he wants them to go. Eh... I don't know... I think I stand by 5.5, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was much better than that. Any videos of his serve or him playing an actual point?

see.. he went D3. under one of the comments of his video.

Just because he went to a D3 school doesn't mean he's not a good player. I've said it before some D3 schools have hidden gems. I watched this guy from a D3 school just destroy some #1 D1 players from various schools in a tournament. He was a nationally ranked junior but he chose not to play college tennis and just went to the school for academia and just decided to play his final year there before he graduated. So just because you see D3 don't automatically dismiss them as not being a good player. And some NAIA school's players are just plain sick because they have different rules when it comes to recruiting players. But then again there are some 4.0 to 4.5 players on NAIA teams too. I played one this past summer. He was a solid player but I beat him fairly easily.

okay.......read all the video threads.

Do you know him fluffy beaver or just his opponents? I randomly met him at dinner once, but didn't realize it was the guy in the video until I watched it again recently. I've never seen him play though.

I wonder if Etienne Moshevich is aware he's a topic of discussion around here....

You could phone him and tell him haha.

After reading this thread, I find it amazing how many people didnt pick up on the sarcasm of that one statement.

Its pretty hard to tell the level of someone from just watching a few fed balls. But obviously that first kid is somewhere in the 4.5-5.0 range and hits the ball pretty well. The other guy, Michael, is a challnger level player, so he is "rated" about a 6.0 I guess. But also, really, once you get to about the 5.5 level, NTRP really doesnt mean anything. At the 5.5 level people are top college players and trying to play pro tournaments. Why would anyone classify differences between 5.5-7.0?? All that matters is results and ranking. There arent local 6.0 tennis league teams at the tennis clubs... LOL.

As for the discussion on Div.1, 2, 3, and NAIA tennis programs, it really just matters on the particular school, not the division really when making a judgement. The Division in general is tougher as you go up, but there are excelent players/teams in NAIA, Division 2, and pretty solid Division 3. On the other hand also, there are several pretty shabby Division 1 teams that lose close to 7-0 or 9-0 to good teams in other Divisions. Its even more apparent on an individual basis, because any great player can go anywhere they choose. The very top NAIA and Division 2 players are usually right up there with the same level as most of the top Div. 1 players.

What crack are you smoking? 5.0s NEVER make unforced errors. So because he hit the net one time and hit one ball wide out of like 30 shots, it is IMPOSSIBLE that he could EVER be a 5.0.

You know, just when I think you can't possibly say something stupider than your last post you prove me wrong.

Looks like that video of the guy hitting backhand is playing a Challenger event and his name is Michael.

This is from a thread someone just possted-

Yup, Micheal Ryderstedt. Here's another video isolated on him during some third set points...

There are some really good videos on that site (http://braingame.dartfishnet.com/group.cfm?g=398 ). I especially like the ones taken at floor level from directly behind the player.

One of the interesting things about Ryderstedt's forehand is how much arm and how little body he uses on his forehand. Does his forehand breakdown at all does anyone know?

You might might want to take another look. That guy is using his legs by bending his knees and stepping into the ball on those forehand drives. Legs are part of the body last time I checked. I don't know anything about this Michael, but from looking at his forehand I'd say he's a 6.0 at least.

Crosscourt, you may want to check out the interview with Micheal. He explains where he gets his power from, and what causes it to break down.

But he does look to be a pro. Look at the immense power he generates and his footwork. Dang, I want to get on the court but winter is still here.

That first guy I forget his name is about a 5.0. I love how people call him a 4.0 to make themselves feel better because they are worse then him. The Michael guy looks about lower 6.5. I would actually love to play with him, I should find out where he lives, give him a ring ;)

4.5 minumum but I would say 5.0 maximum. Not alot of depth on their returns and on other shots but good consistency, good movement, and good serves.

I am a 4.0/4.5 and would win some games against these guys but I think they would take the sets.

I don't like their lazy attitudes between points, acting like they don't care and are too cool for the game.

Its really hard to judge anyone's level by a video when they are 5.0+. If someone were to post a home recording of Michael Chang playing against Pete Sampras and they were in street clothing with the camera focus slighty off so you couldn't tell who they were... It be easy to make the claim that they are "only" 5.0

I don't see any real difference in those videos than those at the futures / challengers.

I'd say he's a lot better than that. I mean't his upper body, so apologies for not being clearer.

Shindemac -- I can't find the post with the link to the interviews etc. Can you help?

Yea he is a 6.5. BR is on crack saying he is a 5.5 lol ;). If you listen to the interview with him, he is playing at a challengers event, and he won it last year, "Defending champ."
