shortened and made my strokes more compact does it mean I should also decrease the tension in my racquet?

I have made my strokes more compact. Should I also decrease the tension in my racquet? If so why? I use to have a much larger swing.

more compact on preparation or on follow through? If you only shortened the preparation, and you are still keeping the same contact point I would say keep the same. tension.

If you shortened the follow through I think that decreasing the tension may work.

I think we match strings and tension to rhs ... so if your shorter stroke means less rhs, then you will probably find you want to drop tension.

Just shortened the stroke preparation length. Same follow through

No my balls don’t land shorter but I am experiencing a bit of pain in my elbow. Hence thought might be good to decrease the tension.

Are you playing with a Babolat or using poly? I'd look to switch away from those first if you are for the long term health of your arm. Another question is if you experienced any pain before you altered your stroke. It could be just technique if you were fine before the change.

Fine before the change.
