Should Federer be stripped of the 2006 AO title?

Suppose that a player hits the ball towards the ball boys but mis hits when doing so and the ball careens off and hits an umpire or linesperson. Do they get DQd?

Then again, Ned kissed that girl and didn't get arrested.

It's not unusual for young children to behave like this. To desperately try to deflect responsibility by finger-pointing at others in this way, even when the relevance is tenuous.

So with that said, I guess it's pecisely the type of behavior we should expect to see in TTW, seeing as this place is largely populated by what could effectively pass as little children.
This post is bigoted and highly demeaning towards little children

Integrity in sport is absolutely essential. Novak Djokovic has been robbed of the chance to win an 18th slam because of “hitting a ball with negligent disregard for the consequences."

Yet, Roger Federer hit the ball with negligent disregard for the consequences at the 2006 Australian Open and escaped punishment. It is impossible to argue that hitting a lines-person instead of a ball boy is the difference as Tim Henman was disqualified for hitting a ball boy at Wimbledon. Nor can the force of the stroke be the issue: not only was Djokovic's hit lighter than Federer's, the junior Australian ladies champion was previously disqualified after the ball struck a ball boy with no great force.

if we are to maintain the integrity of the sport and the slam race, surely Federer must be stripped of his 2006 Australian title?

Thoughts?
weak without video of said fraudulent activity;)

Pretty sure the rules have been tightened on this since all the way back in 2006. Certainly they seem to enforce pemalties more than they did. If Fed had done it this week I'm pretty sure he would have gone the same way as Djoko.

Time to let go and move on. Plenty more chances for Djokovic to win slams before he's done.

No because the statute of limitations has expired. So if you strip him of the title, there will be law suits because the statute will have been violated.

If you're the darling of the establishment, then you are going to be treated differently.

But here it's clearly the case that the different judgement is based on the supposed indestructibility of children, ...

whereas an old crone with one foot in the grave is seen and treated differently.

This post actually makes sense.
Has someone hijacked Bart's account.

Fedr should not be stripped of his AO title, instead he, being such a gentleman, will abdicate his AO title for two reasons:

1. For hitting the ball boy.
2. For the weak slam reasons.

The integrity of the guy who outlasted Coria and Puerta to win his 2nd MS 1000 and first GS should be questioned.

#lackofeducation #nointegrity

Whenever I am having a crappy day and feeling down, I can always count on you guys to give me a good laugh.

Misogyny aside no, it was not her job to watch the ball while a game is not being played.

Changeover time is resting period for line judges too, just like the players............. but totally unlike the ball boys.
Boxer must always protect himself, I see no disparity. You lack an astute definition of misogyny

Slow of movement. People still blaming a line judge for a wannabe tennis GOAT not being able to control his shots. Do you think line judges should be aware of balls headed towards their throats?

Read the rulebook. You do realize that line judges are supposed to judge if a ball was in or out DURING play. You think line judges should still be following balls AFTER a rally. So, let me ask you a question. Since there are 6 balls in play at the same time, do you think that only 6-eyed-humans should become line judges since they, as you claim, have to follow every ball at every time, which means during a changeover/after a rally, possibly six balls are moved around the court?
It's still ridiculous that people blame a woman getting shot in the throat for the World No. 1's incapability to control a tennis ball.

Btw, calling the lines woman and "Old ho" really is classy. Glad you refer to other posters as "Zero-Contributing".
Your reading comprehension skills are lacking. And during change overs and change of service balls are moving about, so YES, the ho should know mofo

That you are extremely disappointed.

If the ball boy had fallen on court and started writhing in pain, then it's a different matter.

Not in terms of rules, but in terms of enforcement. He laughter it off. The woman acted as if Djokovic had Thrown a fireball at her.

The USTA had to do something, the woman overreacted to such extent.

The rules indicate DQ, but authorities generally don't want that.

Bedene was not DQed for way worse offence, because the cameraman shook it off.

The rules are never followed until there appears necessity for it.

The Ball boy, for Fedal and the Cameraman for Bedene never let it appear like that.

The woman however did. Listen to the commies, they know it's over as soon as she falls down
This is the truth. It's clear and it's very easy to understand.

But you have to want to understand it.

It does not serve the narrative of the original poster to understand this correctly.

This is about tribalism. The original poster is on one side (Djokovic's), hurling mud at the other side (Federer's). The truth never matters once it's become tribal. All that matters is "winning" a discussion.

It's everything that is wrong with modern discourse in America.

Shouldn't Nole know where the line judges are at any time during a tennis match?
The ball boys that role the balls down parallel to the doubles alley, are very close to where that line judge positions herself. Tennis players often disperse of balls without looking. I’m not saying Djokovic isn’t at fault

He wasn't looking directly at the ball boy when the ball left his stick. But seriously, those kids are going to remember those moments for the rest of the their lives. It's worth watching just for the smiles.

The absolute ruination of Nole trolls from this DQ is actually better than what happened when he got punted from the USO by Stan (again) last year.

Kudos to some of the more reasonable Nolefams, who are unfortunately vastly outnumbered by dudes like the OP.

Actually, guys like the OP are the ones vastly outnumbered. They just resemble a very vocal minority.

Stripping Slackerer of a title from 14 years old? Good luck with that.

And besides, Roger Federer is my favourite male tennis idol so I don't see it happening.
