Should Federer be under pressure?

I think the fact he missed clay season maybe puts more pressure on him. As the main reason he missed clay was to be in good shape to win his 8th title. He might feel that he is expected to win it especially now with Murray a little injured etc. But who knows he's won 18 slams, he might feel exactly the opposite.

I think the real question should be IS FEDERER FEELING THE PRESSURE?

I hope he doesn't put himself under any pressure, but am slightly worried about his decision to concentrate on Wimbledon and USO, which may actually put pressure on Federer to do well there. I just hope he forgets about the pressure and just enjoys playing there. He did well when he was under no pressure at AO.

Of course there is pressure but as long as he can relax handle the pressure in a positive way like in the AO final then it will be good for him.

If Federer played like any other 35-year-old tennis pro then sure, that'd be true. But Federer is achieving at or near what he did at his peak and is a current Grand Slam holder. Citing Federer's age is just a ready-made excuse in case Rogie falls short.
You better keep preaching.

Oh, I guess I must have missed the year when Peak Federer skipped the entire claycourt season just because he was completely gassed out.

Citing Federer's age is just citing a fact. A fact can never be an excuse.

So? Every top player has a ready-made excuse should he fall short which their fanbases will start peddling out right after. Also Fed achieved at or near what he did at his peak this year on HC only (and then comletely skipped the CC season even though he has reched 5 FO finals in his career), grass is still a different matter, he's really nowhere near the favourite some people make him out to be.

So we're just not gonna call out ready-made excuses now? Nay, I say. All excuses need to be debunked if the fanbases are trotting them out like old, tired strawmen arguments. Federer skipped the clay season to protect his knee and because he admits he didn't prep enough on the surface. He also hasn't seen any real success on the surface in the last few years so getting to 5 French finals is irrelevant. And what, you think grass and HC are any different as suits Federer's game? This year's Australian Open played faster than Wimbledon and he's also won on the two slowest hard courts of the year in IW and Miami. Additionally, he just won Halle, one of the two 500-level premiere grass tourneys before Wimbledon, of course he's a favorite.

i know you rate fed's chances lower than most, damn i hope you're wrong though. who do you think are the favorites?

Fedr should be favorite no question.

Zverev in the Quarters might be a little tricky. If Nole somehow makes it to semis he either woke up from his nap or coasted against crap like RG.

All of the Big 4.5 is talented enough to at least make it to Quarters on talent alone.

Wimbledon is not the "biggest tournament in tennis" but the most popular one. Common misconception though. Would a player with 2 Wimbledon titles be considered better than a player with 2 US Open titles? Of course no. So Wimbledon is equally relevant as other Grand Slams.

Do you not realise that in this context these are basically one in the same thing? "Biggest" often means most popular as it has the biggest audience etc.

For example, in soccer, a Real Madrid vs Barcelona league game is "bigger" than Valencia vs Villarreal. Both are technically the same as they are worth 3 points, but we know which match is the "bigger" deal, even if they were anywhere in the league table.

You have made yourself look a bit foolish there.

I am sorry but I cannot stand to watch this at Wimbledon and will be hoping it never happens. And please keep Novak away from the semi final also.
