Should posters you put on Ignore be blocked from replying on your threads?

Even after the retirement from Federer the same old schism and animosity between rival fans are being rehashed. We hear people complain can there be peace even for a week after all the Laver Cup love. Instead of complaining do you want the forum to block troll posters from responding if you put them on Ignore? This thread may not last too long.

It’s a forum for a reason. Most of the policing needs to be self-policing with the occasional heavy hand of the wonderful moderators.

Moderators let a lot go, compared to a few other forums I've been on. They seem to often be asleep at the wheel.
Certain pinheads are allowed to post whatever they want with minimal consequences. Put them on ignore.

If the forum bothers you, take a break from reading or posting for improved mental health :D

I have a lot of posters on ignore, that is my right to decide what I want to read. However, I will never ask for those said posters to not post in my thread if they still see my thread, because I don't see the posts anyway. But maybe they want to engage with others in the thread, or maybe other posters would be keen to hear their opinions, that is something I don't want to block. As long as they don't go past the line of decency, its all good.

Unless they are actively spamming, then "ignoring" people on internet forums is highly immature, imho.

It's the equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears whilst shouting "nyah! nyah! nyah! I can't hear what the nasty person is saying!".

Besides, everyone has something interesting to say. Even if 98% of someone's commentary is complete and utter twaddle, then that remaining 2% may be insightful or thought-provoking.

I don’t know how you can manage this. I have 87 people on ignore and add more weekly.

1. Im too nosy to not wanna see everything :p
2. Words on a screen can't bother me that much lol. The forum is no different than real life, everyone isn't going to like everyone, and I accept that.

No, because the only people who'd use that feature would be the ones most likely to abuse it.

i practise a healthy mix of 3 and 4 depending on how easy to ignore the offendant is

Agree with the consensus here. You might put someone on Ignore because they're somehow irritating to you but it doesn't mean they're annoying to everybody.

I also thinks it means you can be more free yourself with what you write if you know someone can put you on Ignore - if someone doesn't like your style you know they can just shut you out.

This is the only answer.

3rd option.
Annoying posters are continuing with their "style" as long as they have the audience to reply to them.
It's that simple.
The sign says "Don't feed the troll" and yet everyone keeps doing the opposite.
