Should Grigor Retire?

Like I said earlier - Grigo could play the south American swing - maybe pickup a win and some points. That way he keeps his ranking and gets into majors.
For guys like him and Gael - it’s time to start choosing tournaments to play in wisely.

Why in the world would he retire.

To make Nolefams happy because his game resembles Federer and that makes them angry

There are players older than him with lower ranking. Why should he retire if he is not injured and doing great in top 20? Retire to do what, what Jeopardy?
He is good for the game, putting bums in the seats, and also making money for himself and expanding fan-base.

Look at it this way - how would Gael have fared against Carlitos? I’d say the outcome would not be that much different - the young man is just on another level - feet n legs have not yet been messed up from sliding on hardcourts.

I was in attendance for Alcaraz vs Monfils at IW in ‘22. Alcaraz won 7-5, 6-1. Can’t imagine the scoreline would have been much different this year. If I’m honest I would expect it to have been more one sided for Carlos, given the long match against Dimitrov in the previous round.

It’s no coincidence Meddy and Carlos have done so well at IW the last couple years. The surface is so slow and they defend so well that guys just can’t hit through them.
