Should I stick with this racket or demo this one?

Hi guys, I'm a 3.5-4.0 Player and thinking if I should get another racket. I want to get another racket since I feel like this racket isn't for me. I've been using this for over a year and am a competitive player. The racket I am using right now is a Wilson BLX Juice 100 with a cross of Luxillon and NXT strings :). The racket I'm looking at is a Babolat Aeropro Drive GT. I'm not sure if it's even worth to demo and would not like wasting money on the shipping :-?. Let me tell you what I like to do:

*Baseline Hitter
*Loves hitting with topspin
*Comes to the net when there is an opportunity

I've heard it's a bit stiff? IS there a way to get rid of the stiffness?

I use the APDGT and demoed the juice 100 and they are way different in my opinion. Have you tried the babolat at all?

If you're asking if I tried the APDGT at all, then no. But I have tried my friend's Babolat but I don't know what kind of Babolat he was using, since I never cared.

Unless you are switching to a racket with fairly similar specs that your current one, I do not suggest you do it on the blind.

Besides that, what are you looking for in a racket?? If you switch to a racket and you find the need to "get rid of the stiffness" of said racket, then most likely it wasn't the right choice from the beginning.

Let us know why exactly you feel the BLX Juice 100 is not *right* for you and we should be able to give you more precise feedback on the matter.

Cheers!

I'm not really doing it "blind", I'm asking if it's even worth a demo :-?. And my problem with the Juice is that it kind of feels a bit unstable. I feel like, if I go full power it will sail and go out, so I don;t use full power. I also heard the APDGT is great for topspin, which I do a lot. Hopefully this helps you.

Think about your grandpa naked... sorry couldn't contain myself..

Anyway, racket stiffness is hard to get away from. You can cure it some with a softer stringbed - softer strings and/or lower tension. The APD is very stiff. If you worry about stiffness, there are better choices out there..

I used to play with the APDGT. I liked the solid feel, stability, and big sweet spot. What I didn't like was the stiffness (which hurt my elbow), and the excessive power. I held back on a lot of my shots because I didn't have the confidence to swing away like I should. I play much better with my current racquet, the Pro Kennex Ki 5x, which is more flexible and less powerful.

You can address the stiffness somewhat with a full multi stringbed. However, you might feel that the setup lacks control and spin compared to your poly/multi hybrid.

If you don't like the Juice 100 because you can't go full power without hitting the ball long, the APDGT is probably not going to make things any better. It won't hurt to demo it, but there are other racquets with more flex and less power that probably should be higher on your list.

If I was you, I would get the pure drive gt. Its a lot more forgiving, power, and control. It feels a bit better in my opinon. Dont get me wrong, I had the 2010, 2011, and 2012 AeroPro Drive. And I just didn't like that arc that it does. Thats for the babolat line. But you might like it. And as for other rackets, you could try a Head Prestige line, Six.One if you want a challenge, Head Radical line, or the Dunlop 200 tour.

I think you should try it out.

I did try a lot of different racquets before i picked this. I think you should go after what you think and feel yourself. Nobody knows you as good as you do.

Haha, ok thanks guys! I will demo the APDGT and the PDGT. It is too bad they are out of stock of 3/8 Grip sizes for both of them, so now I have to use a 1/2 Grip size.
