Should Sinner give Shelton a walkover in the QF even if fit?

He should also stop playing for 1 year and 9 months to please the ones who think he should have been banned for 2 years.

100% no. Yes he definitely got lucky today and while it was not 100% certain he would have lost it definitely was on the cards.

However, sometimes in sport as in life you have to ride your luck so he should try 100% to win title and he will.

All wins count. Yes, it was unfortunate that Dimitrov blew out his pec muscle. But that doesn’t mean that we get to subtract slam titles if a certain somebody wins instead of him.

Similarly, we can’t subtract any slam titles from Graf, even though a 19 year old had gotten stabbed after winning 7 out of the previous 9 slam titles. All of Graf’s 22 slam titles count.

Once we start adding asterisks, or subtracting slam titles due to alleged luck, then counting becomes irrelevant, which makes stats irrelevant.

Sinner had no business winning today. Should he give Shelton the walkover to make things right? Might as well call it quits and avoid the heavy asterisks beyond clostebol.
No. Match wasn’t over. You know how many souls Novak crushed down two sets to love?

No, what happened to Dimitrov is regrettable, but what is Sinner's fault that his opponent left the match injured?
His next goal is to play better if he wants to continue advancing rounds.

Sinner said Grigor deserves to advance. Sinner would have no problem defaulting to Grigor and allowing him to play on.
But it is a moot point as Grigor looks incapable of playing the next round. It is best that Sinner give Shelton a legit match.

No need for a walkover. Dimitrov already gave a blueprint for other players to beat Sinner on grass and it is basically the same playbook as Bublik followed at Halle. Serve big and slice him to death with a lot to junk/variety to screw up his rhythm.

Hope Shelton, Djokovic, Cobolli, Fritz, Khachanov and Norrie were taking notes. Alcaraz already knows how to beat him at Slams and doesn’t have to change how he plays.
