Should we call Medvedev a one trick pony and a cement specialist?

Zero results of note on clay or grass. Defeats to such players as Simon, Garin, Herbert, Goffin while being in his prime. His game will most likely improve only marginally after this year, if at all, so QFs at RG/WB with easy draw is probably his ceiling.

Your thoughts?

He could be better on grass, but clay is a no no. I don't think he even wants to develop his clay game.

Let’s see how 2022 goes. He’s so far ahead of the field right now on hardcourt that his dominance will spill over to rougher surfaces next year.

He’s won 40 of his last 43 sets! He’s playing at a historically dominant level right now and hardly anyone is noticing.

That seems to be the consensus here and I'd agree to an extent. I think he's now entering his peak. Let's see how he does next year

I like how one trick pony gave Nadal and his fans a heart attack in 2019, made semis of the same tournament in 2020 and then won it in 2021 .

Also didn't one trick pony reached QF and R4 at RG and WB this year? F, QF, R4, W

That's actually better than most of Nadal's seasons.

He is 25 and he has 5-8 more years. So we can't decide right now anything.

In Roland Garros he was playing amazing tennis until QF which was a respectable match. Could have taken a set from Tsitsipas as well.

Peak Medvedev or prime (not 2011/2015, more like 12-14 or 18-19) Djokovic on HC in your opinion?

Nadal is a one trick pony as per the highly astute tennis analysts on this forum.

Am i missing the meaning of one trick pony? Medvedev has never won a title off hard court. Nadal has won all there is to win on every surface. So is one trick pony reference to always winning anywhere?

Lol. There are Nadal haters genuinely trying to claim in this thread medvedev is more versatile. At the same age as medvedev Nadal had won the Career Golden Slam. Epic thread.

One trick pony means he can only be good on cement

I mean, he got a QF at RG this year, F at Barcelona in 2019, SF at MC in 2019. He won a grass title this season. I get it, OP, you don't like him. Great thread!

The question is not whether I like him. Players are being labeled clay specialists every day, but do we hear about cementers?

Med tried to cheat Dimitrov by changing racquets between Dimitrov's serves, to delay Dimitrov's momentum. Dimitrov's held his game though.
