Sick of looking for strings! Go GUT?! But I'm POOR

Someone give me a persuasive argument advocating their BUDGET setup vs a full TONIC+ 15L job

MAX BUDGET: 25 bucks + 10 bucks labor (+/- 5 bucks)
MIN REQUIRE: 2 months of play @ 3 times a week for 3 hours @ 4.0 NTRP
RACKET: YONEX RDS001 mp

I used Prince Syn Gut @ 16 guage til it gave me Tennis elbow (I was serving incorrectly also, but I fixed that) but also the harshness of the string near the end of it's life hurt me. I then went to Gosen Polylon Comfort 17 which plays great at first but after 20 hours or so, they feel like I'm hitting with a wooden bat BUT it's still comfortable for me to hit with (or so I think right?)

Here's some perferences (prioritized from first to last)
1) COMFORT! I don't want TE ever again and I don't like the feeling of dead strings.
2) CHEAP - I don't cut out strings even if they are dead. That's how cheap I am. I don't mind that TONIC costs 25 bucks + 10 labor if it lasts me 2 months.
3) FEEL - I love the feeling of FRESH polylon comfort 17 or Prince Syn gut
4) DURABILTY - Now here's where I can contradict myself because I'm also cheap. I'll give you an example first of my string breaking prowess: I can use 1 set of prince syn gut 16 for OVER 2 months @ 3 times a week for 3 hours per day. Of course, I have progressed from a 2.0 to about a 3.5 - 4 player in the course of a year and it's been that long since I've used Prince Syn gut. I have NEVER broken a set of Polylon Comf 17. My RDX500 got a crack in it before my last set of polylon broke. I strung my NEW RDS001 mp with polylon 17 @ the end of june, doesn't even look notched yet.

ANYWAY, first thank you for reading.
I have recently seen the light about "feel" since playing with the TW demos that have NXT 16 strung in them. Thing is, NXT costs just about as much as Tonic at S***t Ch**** (the closest place to string around my parts) .. Also, I don't like the way NXT just shreds like no other WAY before breaking. It just looks terrible in some of the TW demos. I'm a INTJ (in case anyone has taken those personality tests before) and basically, I like neatness and order, so I thought the polylon was GREAT because it doesn't move, doesn't hold ball fur and looks fresh all the time. I don't mind maintaining the string as long as I can get it back into good looking shape. I find straightening string okay, but I find those NXTs move like no other and that pisses me off!

Alright, if you've read this far, you're a good person, please help me =**(

PS: This quote from another nat gut thread really got me thinking about it

Another vote for natural gut.
A- Easiest on the arm.
B- Any other string + physical therapy costs less than gut.
C- Best tension maintenance of all string types.
D- Players using gut are much better looking than players using other strings. (This is a known fact!)

go with gut

there is a titan 17.99 buck gut set you can try

use string savers to make it last even longer

i can also suggest technifiber pro mix, very soft and does not move

technifiber x-one bio

remember string savers will stop the string from moving as you hate that. im a 5.5 player and love string savers

try polylon 18g

have fun

I would go for gut too. For the extra few dollars you get the most comfortable string coupled with the fact the playability is best.

I hit through gut in about 6-8 hours. with stringsavers the life doubles.

How do you use your string savers?
For example, fresh stringing, start putting them on? IE Roger federer X

OR

see a notch, put a saver IE Pete Sampras in-between games

Would you recommend using wax post-practice/match?

You seem to want a gut hybrid, but I think you ought to consider a full multi too. Probably Klip Excellerator would fit your bill, as it is medium firm.

It's sort of strange that you thought you went to a poly from PSGD for comfort.

Definitely wax post match if you are looking for extended life from gut. (Also, clean the strings first if you're playing on clay.)

I didn't know any better about polys. But the more I played with it the more I realized that it killed any feeling. I recently switched to a leather grip and took off my shock dampner and I still felt nothing.

do a hybrid with gut in the mains, like federer. if your scared it will break, then just put the gut in the crosses.

string savers are a pretty good way to go.

I put string savers in as soon as i string my rackets normally 3 on each main to begin with to stop string movement. Then if i see a frayed area pop one in there.

I would recommend giving Tonic a try if you are a Babolat fan. It will last you a long time and will retain tension through its entire life. It spins the ball fairly well. Klip Legend is also a great gut for about the same price and does everything a gut is supposed to do. They play fairly differently in my opinion, but both will last you much longer than a synthetic of the same gauge.

hmm .. subscribed. what tension are you guys stringing your gut?

do you ever do a full gut setup? i am about to do one for the first time in my rdx500. i plan on doing it for my main playing stick pure storm tour...and my Pro Tour 280 when it gets here. maybe even the classic tour 660s if i end up getting more of those for cheap

im playing with full gut (VS touch 16) and i am using string savers. the best thing about gut is it wont go dead. and with the string savers the life of the strings seems to be very good.
Does the waxing really help? and where do you get this wax?
Thanks

You definitely don't want to get tennis elbow again for sure. Tonic is an ok string but for $25 you could get a set of klip legend which is better quality than tonic and for me, felt crisper (is that a word?), offered greater spin, control, and
a tad less power. You can even get klip coated or uncoated if you want the ultimate in feel!
