Serena Williams blamed a bad headache for her defeat to Russian qualifier Alina Jidkova at the WTA Linz Open.
Williams, who has been plagued by a knee injury in recent weeks, lost her second-round match 7-6 (7-5) 6-2.
"My knee was pretty OK, but I suffered from a bad headache," said Williams, who was suffering her earliest tournament defeat since April 2000.
Jidkova added: "It feels so great to have beaten Serena. I tried to watch the ball and forget whom I was facing."
So what other excuse she can blame?
