*sigh!* Dunlop, COME ON ALREADY!

What is it with Dunlop balls lately? The Grand Prix are popping after a few hours of play and now after just having gotten some Slazenger Wimbledon Ultra Vis balls I find they're doing the exact same thing! If the Grand Prix ball is just Dunlop's rebadged top tier ball I shudder to think how many lines of their balls this durability issue has an effect on. C'mon Dunlop! Get your act together!

*k', rant over*

Now tell us how you really feel.

Just opened a case of grand prix's last week and now a 1/3rd of them feel soft like they've been open for months. Definitly not the same quality like the case I had last year witch lasted along time. Looks like I'll start looking for another ball to replace the dunlop's.

I don't really hit that hard anymore, but I cracked a ball twice in the past month. Both ProPenns.

I have not had any problems with Dunlop, but thanks for the warning. I have yet to play with the Wimbledon ball, but I'm probably going to this weekend.

I have tried the Grand Prix's before and although I didn't have issues with the quality of them other than the fluffing up that everyone knows about I did not like the slight heaviness and harshness in feel when compared to the All Court or Championship balls. The All Court/Championship balls play livelier and seems to have similar durability without the fluffing up. No quality issues either.

What I find interesting is that I haven't found the Grand Prix balls, or the Slazenger balls, to be noticeably heavy, significantly different from ProPenns or Penn ATP, at all. I don't find them quite as lively as Wilson US Open balls though. Right now, I am of the opinion that today's Grand Prix balls just aren't the same as they used to be. Maybe the change to a somewhat livelier ball has just resulted in a bad rubber compound, but as I've said before, until the balls pop, I find the ball plays fine - literally until the moment they pop. I would be really nice though to have balls to use for hitting practice or whatever...ya' know?

Got a case of Grand Prix's a week ago. 15 hours of tennis usage later, and they're all good for my students and myself. Bad batch?

My friends and I are having serious issues with the GP balls. They feel dead right away (although they do keep the pressure and feel quite stiff to touch) and they break very easily sometimes even during warm up. 2 years ago, however, they would last for 2 consecutive days but not anymore.

I noticed this last year when I got a case of the GP balls. They would bald easily and I had quite a few bad balls that when hit, would have a curve ball effect. I am now using Wilson US Open tennis balls for the time being until there is actually a better ball out there.

how are the dunlop championship XD compared to the GP, theres only a $2 difference.

I find the Championship to be like any of the other Championship balls from Penn or Wilson. *shrug* They're not bad and of course they're approved for official match play but I find they don't last as long as a top tier ball like the Wilson US Open, Penn ATP/ProPenn or Prince Tour. Sometimes I wonder if the Championship lines of balls from companies really all come from the same factory. Hyperbole of course but need less to say, they are all very similar at this level.

Like 2 years ago i would prefer dunlop balls the next day but recently when i played a tournament they felt dead by the third game
