Silent Partner e.Stringer FL ?'s

Looking for some assistance. I know Silent Partners no longer sells these machines but one of my customer's approached me if I'd be interested in a stringer of his that has been in storage for years. He dropped off a Silent Partner e.Stringer FL, which hardly seems to have been used at all. It's not as if I need another machine (have a Neos 1000 & Stringway ML100) but like to play around with different machines and the thought of an electric machine was appealing. Price he offered seems good ($200 or so, we've not settled) but upon testing I've ran into some issues and have one question:

Anyone familiar with these machines and these issues:

Issue #1 - Calibration is consistently 15lbs off to the positive. Setting of 40 will register 55, 45 will register 60. Really surprised to find that the instructions state "take a screw driver remove the dial and reposition".....first thought was maybe there was a screw to remove but there doesn't appear to be, and I'm hesitant to attempt to simply pry off the dial off, it seems relatively tight and there is very little distance between the dial and the cover to place a straight edge screw driver against. Opened the back, and there wasn't anything there that seemed to help.

Issue #2 - I first learned to string on a gamma X-2, and the rotational gripper on this doesn't seem in the least comparable.....and doesn't seem to be working well in that it sticks in the closed position and string wedges inside the front plates. There is a note on the machine that the parts are interchangeable with gamma, but the grippers that I see on the Gamma site have a different screw pattern. I'm going to inquire if they are interchangeable, but the SP Manual doesn't provide any instructions. Again....anyone use one of these machines and familiar with the issue?

Issue #3 - Seems as if this thing is slow, slow, slow!!!! I know slow steady tensioning is good....but first impression is that paint dries faster!

Question....Outside of the tensioner is this a good machine to covert to a Wise? Actually can it be converted?

The tension dial is friction fitted, so it will come off. Problem is you could damage the dial trying to remove it. It takes a lot of gentle tension for a long period of time to pull it off. Gamma still sells this type of rotational eCP. And it too is very slow. All in all, it is not worth it if you need to use the machine. I do think you could re-calibrate the tension. But not sure how. Maybe ask Tennis Machines or @Gamma Tech ?

As a toy or something you could tinker with, maybe, if you're willing to lose the $$. Maybe offer $125-150? And get the other guy to pull the knob off and reposition. As far as sticking gripper plates, a little lubrication should do it. It probably hasn't been used for at least 10 years.

I would not try to add a WISE to this machine. I would think it is easier to do so on the NEOS.
