Silent Partner e-stringer

I have been pricing stringing machines and trying to do a pro/con between electronic and drop weight machines. As far as I can tell this is the best deal for an electronic stringing being competitively priced with some drop weight systems like the Gamma X-2. Is this as good a deal as I think it is? Anyone with any experience with Silent Partner or especially this machine please help me out!!

I would be leery of the motor on a lower priced machine like that. Although I don't have direct experience with the machine, I would be cautious about how accurate it is and it's life span. Keep in mind, a dropweight "motor" never goes bad...

I also would recommend a drop weight vs a low priced electric machine. Do a search, this has been talked to death...

SP E.stringer is an awful machine IMO. Horrible mounting, awful rotational tensioners. Pulls can be way off from one to another.

I would go with the X-2 anyday. You should really spend a little more and go with something like a Laserfibre machine.

Do you speak from experience with the e-stringer machine? Because I have one and every time that I have checked the calibration on it is has been right on. I am sure that it is not the best machine in the world but it does its job very well for its price point.

I have had a Silent Partner e.Stringer for 3 years and have always achieved good quality string jobs. I re-calibrate my stringer once a month and I verify all my string job's tension's using a handy little program I downloaded off the net for free:

I think a lot of folks that talk negative about the e.stringer are simply riding the wave of nonsense talk started a couple years ago. Anyway, as an actual long time user of the e.stringer, I have not experienced any negative results.

Looking on Silent Partner's website, I saw they have introduced a new machine called "JIVE". It looks really nice and would be a nice upgrade route if you are looking for a fixed clamp electronic machine.

I've used it a couple of times. I wouldn't say it was awful. It's a pretty good value for that price point, but I wouldn't buy it for myself.

Disadvantages are all relative to more expensive machines, i.e. rotational gripper, flying clamps, mounting takes some time. Advantages are the customer service and price.

I have not visited the SP lately, but they used to offer a 30-day, Money Back Guarantee. If that is still true, buy the machine and give it a try. If you like it, great!, you made a good decision. If not, all you are out is the $25 to ship it back. Just an idea...

Thanks for all the input, I think I'll give it a try. I've been using a really old klip drop weight that I don't really like and I don't really see the difference between that and an X-2 which is near the same price as this one. I talked to the people at silent partner and they were very helpful and suggested a tension calibrator and said that if the machine ever got really out of whack to just send the motor in and they would recalibrate, fix or replace for reasonable rates.

Yes, I do speak with experience. I've strung hundreds of racquets, and the E.stringer IMO is awful. The 6-pt mounting isnt truly 6 pt mounting. The motor requires 5 minutes of warmup before starting, and the brake dosent actually brake at all. Pulls have been off between racquets aswell.
