Silicone

Rookie
I am planning on removing the foam from inside my (Wilson) racquet, and inject silicone into the handle. How much silicone should I add if I want about 20 grams extra? And what position should I leave the racquet to dry? Thanks!

Wild guess.... 20 grams of silicone.

You really need a scale to do what you want. If I were you, I would remove some of the foam from your frame, place it on a scale then "zero" it out (tare function). Inject silicone until your scale reads "20 g". BTW, 20 grams of silicone is not small. I would use lead fishing weights in conjunction with the silicone.

So if I fill the entire handle with silicone I won't have to worry about going over 20g? And for the fishing weights, would shoving them into the silicone work fine?

I will have to find a scale aswell.

Before you remove foam and if you have a large/full tube of silicone you should squeeze some out 20g on to the scale (cover first with plastic wrap then tare, of course) to get an idea of how much it will take.

20g is a lot of silicone, IME. I siliconed the handles of my old Prestiges, and added 10g to each frame, and that was a lot.

I currently have 5g in the handle of one of my Pure Storms, and it's more than plenty for damping, which IMO is the primary reason to use it. If you're looking for weight and damping, try (as suggested) fishing weights or something similar along with silicone.

Because of the dampening propertires of silicone, you may not like it if you like crisper racquets. On the racquets I've used silicone one, they felt much too soft too me that I ended up scooping as much of it out as I could. If you like softer racquets though, the it shouldn't be a problem (the K90 is rather crisp so if you like the way it feels now, I don't suggest silicone)
