Similar strings to Yonex Polytour Pro

I enjoy the string a lot in 16L, I’m going to try 17g next since I don’t ever break the 16L, but I’m looking for something cheaper. I’m currently using the Ezone 98 2020 at around 50lbs depending on how I feel before I play.

I’ve heard about MSV Co Focus as a cheaper alternative. Has anyone tried both of these strings and could give me what they thought about them?

If you use the black color of PTP, I think you should try Kirschbaum Pro Line II in black. I thought they were similar. PTP slightly more comfortable/soft, but when on sale, PLII is pretty cheap.

The most similar alternative to PTP 1.25 across all metrics would likely be Head Hawk Touch 1.25, but it's only ~$2 USD cheaper per set.

MSV Co Focus 1.23 is similar overall, but the feel is slightly more plasticky and less rubbery than PTP; works better for some frames and playing styles than others. On the plus side, Co Focus will have much better tension maintenance. Definitely worth a try. I'd try stringing 1kg or 2lbs lower tension than what you typically do with PTP 1.25.

That said, the most similar string that's also cheap would probably be Kirschbaum Max Power Rough 1.25. It will have almost identical power, spin and control to PTP, while also having much higher peak resilience and better tension maintenance than Pro Line II, while only being slightly less comfortable. Compared to Co Focus 1.23, it won't hold tension quite as well, but it will have elasticity, spin and control more on par with PTP.

Why would a rough string be similar to a round one?

@aaron_h27 - I've found certain textured string from one brand can play pretty identically to a round string from another. In this case, Max Power is fairly similar to PTP, but with higher static stiffness and a bit less comfort. Rough increases pliability (I theorize from the surface dimpling) and reduces tension maintenance just slightly, but otherwise plays about the same in other aspects, bringing it more inline with PTP, thus the suggestion.
