Simon defends Nadal from doping insinuations

Get a quote for what? I asked a legit question. Did Simon support his countryman in the coke scandal? If he did, I think it really gives a peer into what is going on in his brain. If he in fact did support him I think that makes his support for Nadal entirely meaningless, and the only real way for him to get any media attention.

Its not speculation. It is a question. I see someone do something like this and it makes me question their motives. Gilles is not in the Super Majority when it comes to defending Nadal on doping. I know Llodra said Gaquet would have to take what he gets for punishment, meaning he was not in support of his BS story. So if anyone can remember off the top of their head if Simon did or did not support Gasquet it is a potential indicator of his character.....

Some Parisian pansy has an axe to grind with Nadal and Spain -- What else is new?
English isn't my first language, but i think "axe to grind" wasn't what you meant, although full marks to you for pushing the word "grind" into your post. :D

Nah, big_bill is correct^

Axe to grind is the correct phrase. It means 'To have a grievance with someone, especially where one feels the need to seek damaging retribution.' That's Noah, no doubt about it.

Sure, Noah is definitely a "Parisian pansy", lol. Probably as much as Nadal is an Amazonian headhunter or a Cossak horseman. ;)

Simon spoke up because he happens to be French and this is between France and Spain.

Please, don't be ridiculous. This is between a French comic/satiric TV show and a cerain number of Spaniards who feel offended, not between two countries. This is not war, this is humor (perhaps misplaced) and (perhaps gross) overreaction. Many French or Spaniards either don't care or are amused.

Well, sure many don't care, but it isn't just the puppet show. And they did they to target Spanish sports in general, apart from specific persons.

They also regularly mock Virenque, Mauresmo, Bernard and others. It's not about Spanish sport specifically, it's about hypocrisy about doping.

True, Spanish sportsmen have been their last target, but they have not been the only one by far. To focus on the "spanish" side of the story is to look away (indulgently?) from the main issue.

Exactly. Some people try to "explain" the "Spanish are doping" allegations (ie make them disappear) by saying "they say that because they hate the Spanish people", whereas they should think "they say that because they have an issue with people who are doping". ;)

Going by the topic of the thread, I would think "Parisian Pansy" refers to Gilles Simon, and rightly so. And Simon isn't grinding any axe.

But how could nadaldrivesRangeRover2012 understand what you are saying, Gaab? He heard about the show for the first time from the media and has not watched a single episode, apart from the one in question?

The French people are never going to live this down. They will never be taken seriously again. And their reputation for 'rudeness' has escalated to a new level. They will never be respected.

Booo, hoooo. The normal people in both France and Spain will continue to live a normal life and respect each other. People like you, on the other hand ......

Nervertheless, they'll still have more credibility than you on these boards.
