;)

Don't care what people say, that's not a romance language. But I'm happy for Romania. Somehow they built the canal and now, they have Halep!

Simona's best match of the tournament today. Congrats!
Not quite true... probably the best match of her career. Nearly flawless with only 3 UEs. Serena sometimes gets a slow start but turns it around and prevails. Simona was so relentless and executed so well, she never let Serena into the match and shut her down in less than an hour.

She’ll have a lot of points to defend. Toronto win and a runner up in Cincy.
Yeah, had almost forgotten about that. Right now it doesn't look like she's committed to playing any tournies before Toronto. Hoping that she plays San Jose (Silicon Valley Open). It's been a few years since she's come to Stanford/San Jose. Serena already indicated that she won't make it to SJ this year.

Ok ok, I really appreaciate Simona too but lets admit it ,, Serena choked away the Wimbledon today to Simona. All those unforced errors,,, Serena handed the Wimbledon title to Simona on the silver platter.

Ha I’m on the opposite unless you live out that way and want to watch her up close !! She was a dream to watch in cincy last year. Stadium Court 3 front row, just unbelievable timing and footwork.

What other places in Romania do you recommend to visit?
Well, the last time I was there, it was still a communist country, so it's been a little while! But, my father was from Brașov, and I spent some time there, as well as a few summers in the surrounding villages. And, Zărnești and Poiana. It's a beautiful area, very similar to the mountains where I live now, in Western NC. I've also been to Halep's stomping grounds, Constanța and Mamaia, on the Black Sea, which was nice, too.

Simona earned it. Was not handed to her. Serena sometimes start slows but usually finds her way into the match and manages to turn it around. Simona was very calm but was a Woman on Fire. She put so much pressure on Serena, running down shots no one else would and hitting amazing shots on the run, Simona never let Serena find her way into the match. Serena was rattled and could not find any answers until it was too late.

Simona had beaten Serena only once before but has usually been competitive. This was a whole other level from Halep.

Had seen her at Stanford years ago (before her rise into the top 10). She wanted to play here (Stanford) in 2017 but they would not give her a WC entry -- they had already given the WC slots to Sharapova and a couple of other players who all exited the tournament early. What a waste. She played DC instead but was not treated well there... 3 matches in the brutal heat in the middle of the day. No evening matches for their top marquee player. No way to treat your top draw. After back-to-back matches there in the heat she had to pull out with heat exhaustion. Her style of play is just too demanding for that.

Needless to say she did not return to DC last year. Did not bother with San Jose (formerly Stanford) either. :(

I like Halep. She's cute, but put 65 more years on her and you could picture her traveling around the old country breaking curses for werewolves.

I like Osaka too.

Apparently, baby Tania was named after her grandmother, Simona's mom. In 15-20 years, perhaps Tania Halep, the younger one, will be playing on the clay at RG and the hallowed grass of SW19.

Tis true.
Best match of her tournament and also probably career.
Not mutually exclusive.

I was dead wrong that Nike overpaid 2 mils per a year contract.
It turned out one of the best investments and looking so bad at Naomi’s contract which does not really need to give all benefits to her.
Seems like her contract is underpaid now. Probably she might want 5 mils + per a year for next contract.

@Sarzy
Go and check her instagram profile. She posts a lot about her, always refered to her as "My Angel". And she refered to the girl's mom as sister in law!!!

@SystemicAnomaly Does she have a sister?

Seriously, doesn't she look like Simona more than her mother (Simona's sister)...

Simona has an older brother, Nicolae, who is baby Tania's dad.
Yes, Tania does bear a striking resemblance to aunt Simona.
