Hi All

Let's say a racket is string at 50 lbs with Poly. Played once for an hour or so, felt boardy and then put away for 45 days. Then you take it out again and it feels beyond awesome in every way - feel, pocketing, power, control.

How do I simulate that without waiting - String @ 40 lbs with 10-15% or so prestretch with a Wise Tensionhead? (Remember it was originally strung at 50, hit once and put away for 45 days)

Only way to find out is to measure the tension after 45 days. TBH, I am not sure you can replicate it cuz you have both static and dynamic tension losses occurring. If you never hit with it, static tension losses can be closely approximated but dynamic losses can’t be as easily.

Whoa thats exactly what I was just wondering, happened to me with alu power 1.25 50 lbs in pure aero vs. Nothing amazing at first until I put it away for a few months and then anything touching the strings was like a sweetspot

You gotta buy about 12 racquets, string them and put them away to where when you need a new one it’s at 45 days post stringing. 12 so you can string 3 at a time and have 10-11 days of playability.

probably not the best solution, but BK/GW felt the best to me after a few days in the bag

Lol wish I had the money for that

The racquet that was strung at 50 a month ago is probably at low 40s tension so maybe string your next racquet at 42-44 lbs. If it’s too tight, let it sit a week or so and it should be perfect

I'm not sure that works, when I experienced this I doubt stringing directly in low 40s would've had it feeling so good seems like theres something about sitting around a long time

-try some softer polys at a lower tension
-40-49lbs is a good soft range for these options:
-babolate.rpm.POWER
-isospeed.CREAM
-head.LYNX

I get the idea and concept but I have the following observation
- Control/Stiffer Polys after losing tension from 1 hit + sit have more pocketing but power level is still reasonable.
- Power/Soft Polys are too high to begin with and only increase and become too vauge after 1 hit + sit.

Exactly what I was thinking.
Sheesh... just picked up racquet restrung in 40 lb 4G prestretched for first time ever a guy was looking back at me for no reason then on the court I chose there happened to be a wilson us open tennis ball which I like the most with the number 4 on it and it was 2:44 pm with freshly strung 4G and your name is gold just like 4G is gold. It works very nicely at that tension

how was the power on it? has it become uncontrollable after a few sessions? I've been wanting to test some lower tension set ups but haven't gone below 50 yet.

string it lower at the tension that they fell to (you can kinda get a rough estimate cheaply with that tourna tension tester or if you want something more accurate and willing to shell out the money a beers tension tester)
