Since 2008, Federer and Nadal have the same average Year End Ranking.

Federer - #2, #1, #2, #3, #2 = average ranking of #2
Nadal - #1, #2, #1, #2, #4 = average ranking of #2

Note: obviously, Nadal's two #1 rankings gives the slight edge to Nadal.

Who do you think will finish with the higher ranking next year?

For those that say Federer thrived in a weak era (pre Nadal), this would seemingly indicate that he has done quite well. And if he has a higher ranking than Nadal in 2013, he has done remarkably well.

I actually see Nadal ending 2013 as either #2 or #1, and Federer at #3 or #4.

Old Fed is obviously thriving in a weak era now if he can still post better results than these peaky-prime GOAT candidates.

Old relics sure wouldn't have had a chance of threatening the #1 spot in the much-stronger era of 2004-2007... :D

It's impossible that multiple players in one year finished on #1
