First, I wanna say congratulations to Djokovic and his fans for an incredible achivement getting a 21st slam, but arguably just as impressive, a 7th Wimbledon title.
In my opinion, we can't blame his victory today on a choke from a mug. Kyrgios really tried.

But again we saw Djokovic winning a match after losing the first set, so I decided to check up on how often this has happended.

Since the 2020 US Open, Djokovic has lost the first set in 16 matches, and won an incredible 14 of them.

Why is this?

The 2 times he lost were to Nadal at RG and Medvedev when Djoker was completely gassed. Hardly blameworthy as well.

Having said that, in the last 10 years Nadal and Djokovic have played 26 times and the guy who lost the first set has lost 23 times. Would have been so interesting to see if Novak’s level would have been so bad if he’d had Rafa opposite him today. Rafa would have loved a free set no doubt
