Sinner accepts settlement with WADA for 3 month ban

So does that mean he doped for real? How long? How much did it help him? Should we ignore his whole last year and this year's AO? Is he still a cute lil ginger GOAT or a doper cheater fraud?
"The body accepts the three-time Grand Slam champion "did not intend to cheat", that the drug "did not provide any performance-enhancing benefit" and this happened "without his knowledge as the result of negligence of members of his entourage".
It added: "However, under the code and by virtue of Cas precedent, an athlete bears responsibility for the entourage's negligence. Based on the unique set of facts of this case, a three-month suspension is deemed to be an appropriate outcome."

Most contractors will only ever be able to imagine having this much leverage over their paymasters when embroiled in a public embarrassment. Can’t kill the golden goose.

Great news for tennis actually, 1 year without Sinner would have been bad for the sport. Everybody knows he's number one and the best.
However I have to admit the timing is way too convenient.
A #1 who is now a known doper and cheater is an even worse look for the sport.

Corruption and doping is clearly rife in tennis now after this result, and if you're high profile enough, you'll just be allowed back for the slams.

If Sinner is innocent why did he accept a ban?

Why didn't he fight it?

Surely there is no soul who can defend this man. This is an embarrassment to the sport of tennis.

We can continue to explain to you, but it seems you are unable to grasp certain differences. Your loss.

Good on sinner, 3 months, get it over with and move on.

"The body accepts the three-time Grand Slam champion "did not intend to cheat", that the drug "did not provide any performance-enhancing benefit" and this happened "without his knowledge as the result of negligence of members of his entourage".

So there are now 3 parties who maintain that there was no intention to cheat.
Anyone who now still insists that SInner was intentionally doping, is just a sad loser.

He was allowed to play the Australian Open. He now gets a ban AFTER the slam and he'll return before the next slam.

You'd have to be braindead to realize why they did it this way.

Absolutely dodgy and corrupt.

I agree it should either be no ban (I lean to his innocence)or a proper year ban. This 3 month conveniently times does feel weird. I am unsure how to feel on it but am happy its not career ending

@jeroenn

Do you want me to spell it out for you?

Sinner was allowed to play the first major of the year which he won. Despite having failed multiple doping tests.

He gets his hearing after the slam where he then accepts a punishment and gets benched for 3 months for doping and being a drug cheat. He misses events that the world doesn't really care about. However, he will play the next big event, the French Open.

He gets no real punishment essentially.

Do you need me to explain how that looks?

Whaaaa Whaaaa.. booo *sniff sniff *

Cry harder.
Yeah... you don't really understand how dodgy this looks.

Maybe take a look at the facts here and you'll realize how woeful this is. Dude was a known doper and allowed to play the Aus Open, he then gets banned AFTER the Aus Open which he won. But he can play the next slam.

Don't you wonder why he wasn't banned sooner? Have a think babe.

Isn't it fascinating he was allowed to play the Aus Open after two failed doping tests and then he gets benched AFTER the slam. And he gets to play the next slam?

You think it's just a cute coincidence?

Very surprised it wasn't at least 6 months given what they were trying to push for. And what happened to the trial on 16-17 April?
Will be a source of huge controversy going forwards and I'm afraid the tour will not be taken as seriously as before

You would indeed need to be brain dead not to realise why they did it this way.

They did it this way because public opinion seemed to demand a ban, but as discussed in their verdict, they acknowledged he had no fault and gained no performance boost.

Tough day. If Sinner had been banned Zedrot would have won the AO

Dude fails multiple doping tests.

Allowed to play multiple slams.

Gets banned AFTER he wins back to back slams.

But is allowed to play the next slam.

All innocent and above board for you babe? Just good timing?

Nothing suspicious? :)

I follow your train of thoughts, I really do. You're making a few incorrect assumptions and come to a (wrong) conclusion.

It's on you really to try to understand. Or not. Again, your loss.

Jannik Sinner will forever have a stain on his career and legacy and this cements it.

The lack of transparency and dodginess here is beyond anything i've seen in tennis.

It's giving cycling and Lance Armstrong vibes. Letting him play with multiple failed doping tests and conveniently returning in time for the French Open is so obvious.

You don't think the fact he accepts a convenient 3 month ban JUST IN TIME to return for the next slam isn't blatantly suspicious and dodgy? After two failed doping tests where he was allowed to play on and win 2 more slams?

Come on, surely you can see how rigged this is.

Jannik Sinner is an upstanding no 1 player, multiple slam winner who dealt with a situation as best as he could, for which he earned my respect. He's been cleared of intentional doping and cheating by multiple parties, including the WADA and ITIA and that is certainly good enough for me.

I hope he has a long and prosperous career and he has my full support.

In many other cases the intention to cheat or lack of it did not affect the decision.
Nobody with a brain can deny that Sinner getting 3 months was influenced by his current high ranking. Same as Swiatek.
You can’t call losers people who use their brains.

And he just happens to return in time for the French Open?

Halep got cleared of wrongdoing but got her career ruined. Sinner gets to play every slam and be the hero? Just an irrelevant 3 month ban that means nothing and he misses no slams?
