Sinner into the Semis

Jannik off the ground tonight was averaging some insane speeds. Almost too fast and increasing his error percentages, but when it was on simply unplayable.

Unplayable for Bublik... ;)
You can't do much by just slapping the ball all the time (It can work for saving match point thought)...

He could definitely add more variation in pace of shot and angle, but when he hits his targets the fh is destructive. Thought Bublik did well against the onslaught and defended well for most of the match. Read the inside out well and forced Jannik to go closer to lines - coughing up a few errors.

As long ago as last season his BH rpm rate is #1 on the tour, which allows for high mph without as much risk for error. On serve, I think he starts to leak oil and spray his shots when the serve is off a bit and he gets behind in the rally sequence. On return, he gets more passive to start points with a placement server that knows when and how to jam him enough to neutralize the jump he gets on corner serves. His BH return, when timed right from great instinct, is already top shelf stuff. The FH return still needs more consistency but goes as big as that 2-handed swat when he grooves it. I would like him to start aiming right back at the server’s feet more a la Joe Kovic or Agassi. That would cut the errors down some and often induces a neutral to weak “and one.”

Would like to see him add a little bit of Murrays variety as the hard hitting whilst destructive, can get predictable and the top guys can handle that alone. I think that when he fills out and with some work the serve will be a lot more effective as well. He doesn't get to many cheap points off his delivery.
