Sinner was given the most ridiculously insane draw in USO history.
Zverev, Alcaraz, Medvedev, Djokovic...
Nobody can go through all 4 of these guys in succession on hardcourts.
Not even 2005 Federer nor 2010 Nadal.

Geriatric Sampras had a draw of 11 years younger Youzhny, Rafter, Agassi, 9 years younger Safin and 10 years younger Hewitt at US open 2001, he beat 4 of these and then failed at the last hurdle, Sinner has failed at the first hurdle itself despite being 22 years old. He is no ATG in making, lets accept it.

Sinner's legs are just too skinny for him to be an ATG. He looks frail.

This is truly pathetic. The last time that Sinner played Nadal he was 19 years old. Most of these guys are in or around (presumably) the primes of their tennis career, Sinner likely, hopefully, is not. Alcaraz also isn't, and there you go... 3-3. Nike have enough brain cells to realize they can make money off this guy for a decade at least, and that 99.9% of people on the planet could not care less if he is some mythical, hypothetical ATG.

*Person sees Sinner commercial on TV*

"Ah, but is he an ATG?"

This forum is well and truly in the toilet.

It was tough, no doubt about it. But Z just got his 2nd top-10 win in a slam EVER and peak Fed/Rafa also handles Medv with relative ease.
Then we are left with Alcaraz and Djoko. Tough, but not impossible with the Meddy match in the middle to recover

And no, it's not the toughest draw in US Open history

Which draw is tougher than having to go through a USO finalist and 3 USO champions in succession?

Sinner's H2H against 7 big players on tour

01. Djokovic 0-3
02. Medvedev 0-6
03. Zverev 1-4
04. Tsistipas 2-5
05. Nadal 0-3
06. Rune 0-2
07. Alcaraz 3-3

6 - 26

18% win record

Do you still think this guy is gonna be ATG? @Sampras-Bruguera 1993 @dking68

NIKE wasted 150M $ on this loser

Nope. Remember that this year he has won a M1000 with a draw featuring opponents of a 250 or even challenger level. The guy strikes hard and and heavy, and has a decent defence, but that's all. His game is predictable.

He will be able to scratch a slam given the poor performance of the top guys being kicked out of the tournaments in early rounds, and he being a bad match-up for Alcaraz. But if such a thing happen, it will be only a demerit of their opponents, and hardly a merit of himself.

Maybe Sinner thinks he can turn things around like Federer did ?

Roger had losing h2h to Hewitt (2-6), Kafelnikov (2-4), Henman (1-4), Corretja (1-3), Rafter (0-3), Agassi (0-3), Ferrero (1-2), Nalbandian (0-2), Ancic (0-1) at the end of 2002

Omg what a comparison. The difference is that Fed had the tools. Sinner doesn't.

I don't think anybody is saying that he'll be as great as Roger. But that stat (if accurate) puts his record in a much more hopeful context.

Maybe or maybe not.
We can't assume that players with poor records against top players will turn it around because Federer did, it just doesn't follow.
Sinner might do it, but citing Federer is a non sequitur

to this point--does anyone else think he's still growing into his body, and that that might have something to do with it? he seriously still looks like a kid out there, if you said he was 17 or 18 i'd believe it.

i mean, he's coming close so it's not like he's coming apart at the seams out there...but maybe he needs another year or two to really come into his own physically.

Wow! What an insane turn-around!

So you are saying that Sinner has a chance! I like it.

Lol. They’d of destroyed the first 3

Yea time for a coaching change. This experiment hasn’t worked. Anyways. Don’t overreact he’s only 22. Lots of time for an ATG career. Djoker didn’t even hit his stride until he was 24 He’s got plenty of time to turn things around

Agassi was older than Pete.
