Sinner Or Alcaraz

Who would have Djokovic liked his chances against in QF?

I know Alcaraz is out, but did Sinner make the draw easier for Novak here ?

If Alcaraz would have won, the hype train would have defacto taken Alcaraz to finals against Nadal I think.

The way he is playing I'm not sure he would care either way on the grass. Probably would have taken Sinner over Alcaraz but given he is unbeaten since 2017 at Wimbledon he'll be supremely confident.

Sinner played as well as I've seen him play today, but I think Novak knows that if he plays at or near his best it's not too bad a match-up for him. Alcaraz on the other hand is a bit of an unknown quantity who has the tools to play lights out tennis even if its difficult for him to put it all together on the big stage currently due to lack of experience and pretty low tennis IQ. I think Djokovic might prefer to face a guy that he knows isn't quite on his level if he's solid enough even though he's less likely to crap the bed vs a guy that's capable of taking the racket out of his hand at his best, even if the probability of such an event occurring is relatively low. Who knows though.

The way he is playing? He lost a set against an unknown Korean guy and Tim, both much inferior players than Sinner. He cannot lose the concentration against Sinner like that.

I agree Novak will win Sinner in probably 4 sets, but he needs to raise his level to avoid complications against the Italian.

If sinner wants to push novak, he needs to improve getting more first serves in. Otherwise it could be a routine win for Novak

I only saw patches of the match today, but his low tennis IQ was there for everyone to see. :(

Yes he's had lapses in concentration and then shown the extra gears he has available on call. For me, over bo5 there is no-one else in his side of the draw that can compete with him at a high enough level for long enough periods to beat him. It'll take the rest of the field to raise their game enormously to cause an upset. I think the potential match up with Norrie on home soil in the semi will be the toughest his side.

Sinner has looked much better than Alcaraz this week especially with his serves and returns which are always the key on grass. Sinner can keep points short and get through sets quicker which is always good in a long match against Djokovic who won’t give up his Wimbledon crown easily.

Ya, agreed Sinner has the game to take Djokovic down. He only lacks is mentality.

Far from it tbh. Sinner was returning elite today. And definitely has the ground game which is big. Djokovic needs to keep his level like last 2 sets today.
I said Sinner would win yesterday. Sinner hits bigger than Alcaraz always has done. Alcaraz has a more all round game but today tried to out hit Sinner and just got bossed especially bH to Bh. The other key difference was the serve and return. Sinner was hitting his spots much better and his 2nd serve was outstanding. And his ros was different gravy to Alcaraz.
Personally i think Djokovic would have preferred Alcaraz. Sinner has bettet shot tolerance and can live with Djokovic BH to BH.
Have to be honest as an Alcaraz fan but what i saw today worried me as Sinner who i have huge respect for as he has game i thought looked a more talented player. Hits bigger with more margin and has a better serve and return. Alcaraz is mentally stronger but Sinner also showed clutchness today. That wasa damaging defeat for Alcsraz as he was outplayed. Didnt break once.

Nole is going to face somebody who has a so-so serve and a return that is almost as good as his own.

The question is whether 'almost' will be enough.

Sounds like Djokovic has peaked right in time for this grass event.
