“Jannik Sinner has completed another important step in his preparations for the North American hard-court swing.
The world no. 1 spent around four hours at the Physioclinic in Milan on Tuesday morning, undergoing scheduled medical examinations ahead of his next tournament.
The 24-year-old arrived at approximately 8 a.m. alongside four members of his team and remained at the facility until noon. The San Candido native was examined by Dr. Piero Volpi as his team continues to carefully monitor the physical condition following an intense opening seven months of the season.
Encouragingly, Jannik emerged from the clinic smiling and stopped to sign autographs for supporters waiting outside.
Sinner's right knee remains under observation
The Milan appointment comes after Jannik was recently seen with a bandage around his right knee during a visit to J Medical in Turin. He then went to Monte Carlo to train before embracing another medical check in Milan.
That naturally created some attention ahead of his return to competition, although there are currently no indications of a significant physical problem.
The latest examinations appear to form part of the careful monitoring and workload management surrounding the five-time Major champion. Jannik and his team have consistently placed considerable emphasis on prevention and recovery as his schedule and number of high-level matches have increased.
Similar physical evaluations have also been conducted in Monte Carlo, where the Italian is based.
Cincinnati and US Open plans remain unchanged
Most importantly, there appears to be no change to world no. 1's immediate schedule. He is expected to travel to the United States on Sunday, August 9, beginning the final phase of his preparations for the Cincinnati Masters.
It will mark his first tournament since successfully defending his Wimbledon crown. Cincinnati will provide Sinner with his only competitive preparation before the US Open after his decision to skip the Canadian Masters and prioritize recovery.
Following another demanding first half of the season, every physical detail matters. For now, though, the lengthy Milan visit appears precautionary rather than alarming, with the 24-year-old continuing toward his planned American return.”
