Sinner stop, Panichi: "Jannik will still improve many aspects"

"The fact of having so much time, almost like athletics preparation, will allow us to deeply touch on the characteristics and conditions that we want to improve." Thus Jannik Sinner's athletic trainer, Marco Panichi, guest of Sky Tennis Club, spoke about the work that will be carried out by the Italian during the months of suspension following the agreement with Wada.

The words of Panichi

"Because there is always something to improve, even if we are talking about small things given that these 'Formula 1 cars' are already very advanced. The fact remains that from a motivational point of view they are important boosts", he explained. "Knowing that we can dedicate a lot of time to certain things is an important boost. It will be a new experience, something new", added Panichi who before working with Sinner was also Novak Djokovic's trainer for a long time.

Imagine the number one player has more upside than Alcaraz. Proving doubters wrong is big motivation.
Winning is all he knows.

Great to see Panichi enthusiastic about this fairly unique challenge, will help to boost the team spirit. There will be a lot of rust but also the potential upsides.

Almost like a natural experiment, intriguing on many levels.

If I know even a little Sinner, he will be able to take advantage of these months of forced stop to come back even stronger and regenerated.
After a very intense 2024, not only for all the matches played, but also for all the nervous stress he had to endure from April 2024 onwards, in some ways he needed this break.
In 2024 he closed the season again at the end of November due to the Davis Cup, and only had about ten days of total break before resuming preparation in Dubai.
Now, however, he is using these first few weeks to take a break and then start again with even more vigor from the beginning of March onwards.
In March he will do a real physical preparation that follows the one during the off season, all the fuel that he will need in the tour de force that will start from Rome and reach the US Open.

We remain confident.

Has anyone done well soon after coming back from a dope ban? I’m sure there are examples, but I can’t think of them.
