Sinner to beat Nadal

But what if Sinner doesn't even take a set from Nadal?
Seems like the most likely outcome, based on Roland Garros 2020 and Rome 2021....
Your thread may be about 5 years too soon.

That Soderling RG match is irrelevant, because it was a one-off.
In fact Nadal destroyed Soderling in straight sets at 2010 Roland Garros and 2011 Roland Garros....
And its a lot harder to attack Nadal in 2021 than it was in 2009.
Uncle Toni's defensive brand of tennis is DEAD.
Nadal would beat 2009 Soderling if they met today.
Hmmm i still think defensive tennis is he holy grail on clay.

No no not at all. Roger clearly GOAT on grass and fast and fast medium courts and Nadal GOAT on slow and slow medium courts
For Nadal its never about how slow or fast the court is........its only the bounce that he cares about.
But if he had to choose a speed, I think he'd choose fast........because he's trying to finish points quickly.
And Nadal has said many times that he likes fast courts.
No wonder he's a 5-time Canada Masters champion....

Most Nadal fans in agreement he is the underdog. We don’t delude ourselves.
Of course he is not the underdog. Rafa is the smoking hot favorite to take this RG. The only question is, will he drop sets on the way. It's just outlandish to claim that Rafa will dominate Sinner till he's 45. That's all I'm saying.

Smoking hot favourite?
What have you been smoking?

If that was 2008 Nadal then yes, he would be the big favorite. But Nadal is 35 and he is extremely vulnerable in this clay season. He already should have lost a set in the first round, but Popyrin choked. There are lots of players who can take advantage of his heavy declined movement. Actually, both Federer and Djokovic played better than him in the first round, especially Federer.

Cmon. 13 RGs. 4 in a row, going for a 5th, won Rome just 2 weeks before beating Next Genners (Sinner, Zverev) and Djokovic. What more do you guys want?
He should have lost something like 6-3 6-1 to Shapovalov in Rome. That was hell of a choke. He had to save matchpoints in both clay tournaments he won this year, and both times he got lucky on big point.

Interesting. I did not know Montreal was that fast. Hope its not a night match v Sinner.

Watching his match and he has no weakness Nadal can exploit.
The changing of clay court guard is here i am sure of it. Sinner can do everything Rafa can do but better. Bigger FH bigger BH bigger serve better return.
Many will mock this thread and likely be insulting but Sinners time is now. He does not fear Nadal and has a champion mindset.
The crucial factor is Rafa is definitely slow around the court now which at 35 is no surprise. The way Sinner smokes that ball Rafa is going to not be able to stay in rallies.
The match up i think will be like Federer v Sampras all those years ago.
Sinner is absolutely destroying a fabulous young Italian (another one). It is awe inspiringly good.
No disgrace in losing to Sinner for us Rafa fans as Sinner perhaps the guy most of us will support in the future.

You kind of make my point with if Nadal is off. He has been off all clay court season. He has clutched matches and fought like a lion etc but his actual level is actually not that good.
His level in that tournament was so low that he even let himself be beaten for the first time having a set in favor at Roland Garros.
Something unlikely for the Spanish Bull.
