Sinner to skip the Olympics

I think young players should represent their country in the Olympics for several reasons, as long as they are not injured.

Among other things, they can often learn a lot from other players, who may have some genuine interest in seeing them succeed. If Berrettini is playing, maybe Sinner could pick up a few tips on his serve.

Also, many times (although not always) these countries invest in these players. Why not return the favor, for what? One or two weeks at the most?

Strange and quite frankly, rubbish decision. The excuse provided is p*ss poor.

Unless he has some inside information that perhaps it's gonna be a terrible situation due to Covid or that the hotel accomidation in the Olympic village really sucks monkey balls........... or whatever else it may be, it makes no sense for Jannick of all peeps (as opposed to a veteran who's been there done that for example) to not compete at such a prominent stage, a once in a four year per career opportunity. The time spent at the olympics is about two or so max, i.e.: not something that is long enough that Jannik can spend it invaluably on some major overhaul of his game back home, or win some important tournament and get silverware.

Olympics is Olympics. Winning it means immortality. You are only robbing yourself of the opportunity.

How about this play the Olympics and have success at the next Grand Slam...Zverev, Auger-Aliassime, Tiafoe, Fernandez, and Muguruza...
