Can Jannik Sinner go deep in New York city.
What do you think, how far he can go?
He has Dimitrov in the 3rd Hurkacz in the 4th, in QF Cilic/Coric/Alcaraz, Nadal/Norrie SF.
I have him down as Runner up. Think he will beat Nadal innthe semis but then paybthe Nadal Tax in the final to Fritz.
People write Fritz off but that Nadal loss at W i think may be a blessing for him. His attitude after was that of a champion when he siad he didnt want any handouts etc. He has been improving steadily. Fritz v Sinner to me on the basis of this season and how both have steadily improved looks a good bet.

What a tough draw. Might lose to Hubi in 4R depending on the other's form, I do think he'll get past whoever he faces in the QF (including Alcaraz) if he makes it, but Nadal in the SF after that is brutal.

Shall Rafa reach a QF it will be a miracle. Recently torn abdominal muscle is not joke, needless to say he was 2 months out of commission

What has sinner done in the recent times except winning a 250 title at Umag on clay although it was a good win but still he has been subpar on HCs in the NA HC season
I know, he was playing subpar in Montreal and Cinci respectively. But bo5 and slam i a different story.
And if had not he been injured in february/march he might have won Miami or IW. Kid played hell, but his injuries prevented him from bigger success

And in Montreal it was not his fault, PCB was playing hell. Perhaps his best ever performance to date. Upsetting Hurkacz,Sinner and obliterating Rune Hell of an achievement

But do not ever say that in Poland. They hate both communists and nazis and RuZZians

I know. And that is very cool. I was next to an old Polish woman for a Hurkacz match, she was the only one cheering for him as he was playing Donald Young in DC. We bonded over a mutual distaste for Putin and a love for NATO

I have him down as Runner up. Think he will beat Nadal in the semis
Unlikely. Nadal dominates him 3-0 in the H2H, and Sinner has never won a set against him.
I think he may be the favorite against Nadal already
No, he won't be the favorite, you kidding? The guy hasn't won anything above a 250 in 2022, while Nadal has won 2 Slams and leads the race. The Spaniad will be the overwhelming favorite. Alcaraz is more likely to beat Sinner than Sinner is of beaing Nadal. Alcaraz has already beaten Sinner, while Sinner has never won a single set against Nadal.

The question is whether or not Rafa will make it there. If he is off, someone like Shapo could take advantage.

And he also didn’t win a single set against Djokovic, and he pushed Djokovic to 5 at WB. He has evolved a lot as a player

Musetti also pushed Novak to 5 at RG 2021. Pushing Novak to 5 in one match is not a synonym with being favorite over Rafa.

I don't know. He kind of underachieved during the US masters series events, despite having momentum coming in.

The issue with the young guns is the consistency, and this is where guys like Nadal and Djokovic edge them out, even in their mid 30s, they still have incredible consistency.

Yes US summer swing was horrible for Sinner.
On the other hand in Montreal he played against lets say peak PCB

True, but has he ever had a kinder draw?
Kinder? Okay. This year at AO he had Tsitsipas in QF, unfortunately for him, the greek arguably played his best match so far this year.
FO injury, but would have dealt with Rublev anyway. Cilic would be a tough nut to crack, especially after he annihilated and humiliated Medvedev in the 4th.
Wimby- Djokovic, pushed him to 5 sets, but this one he should have won IMHO.
US open- Dimitrov, unless Dimitrov will play out of his mind, Sinner wins.
Hurkacz, well this one can be tricky.
QF- Coric/Cilic/Alcaraz.
Considering Alcaraz's "lack" of form on NA HC seing , Sinner has a chance. He should be able to beat Cilic unless Cilic goes 2022 FO mode. Coric may be the toughest opponent.

Alcaraz is obviously the projected QF opponent. That match could be a classic. Agree that Hurkacz is tricky, but Coric has never beaten Cilic, so it is not clear he reaches the quarters even if he gets past Alcaraz.

Okay. So if Cilic beats Coric which is likely, kid will face the former in QF.
And IF cilic goes FRENCH OPEN mode, kid will have no chance.

Sure, he will have his hands full. But keep in mind that Cilic has not been able to recreate that form on the hard courts yet (not to suggest that Sinner is arriving in top form). Also, Rublev challenged French Open Cilic.

Yes he did. But Cilic raised hi game by two levels in STB

And played like crap against 250 Ruud. I can’t bank on 33 year old choke Cilic
