Sinner v Alcaraz coaching

Humble Crumble

Semi-Pro
Is it true that JCF was coaching Alcaraz and telling him where to serve against Sinner?

I am not fully aware of the rules around coaching. I heard the ATP lifted the ban against it a few years ago?

In my opinion this is an outrage. Tennis is an individual sport, like an arena between two gladiators. Coaching turns this into a team sport. After watching the Big 3 for nearly 20 years battle each other on their own wits I find myself wondering why on earth they thought this was a good idea.

I definitely have not seen or heard Cahill coaching his man out there, neither have I seen others aside from Stefanos’ father. Just saying…

Edit: Apparently everybody was always doing it so the rule was pointless to begin with.

Every single player gets coached during the game -- even Rafa even before it was legalized. Ask Toni and yes, legalized.

Djokovic has also gone on record appreciating the legalization of coaching because it was happening anyway, iirc.

Sinner gets as coached as Alcaraz, for everyone can do it now legally.

Also, Alcaraz has 5-6 Big titles without JCF around. He can play as alone as the loneliest loner on earth but he's no idiot to not make use of something legal that everyone else uses. It's a level-playing field.

There's no outrage here to be had at all. Just saying...

Or if you want some confirmation of your bias, I'll provide you that too. Jannik is a coachless wonder who does it all on his own. He's a proud individual who doesn't resort to on-court coaching even if it's legal because he's a man of principles. Long live carrot ♥️

Was there any need for sarcasm? I come with questions in good faith. Besides, this is only what I have heard from other discussions. If everybody is doing it and they always were doing it, then I guess the only other option is to enforce it properly or just let it happen. It seems they took the easy option.
