Deserved win, that sneaker malfunction was a bit of a shame. Don’t remember the last time so many heavy balls hitting the lines…

if Carlos continues to play like that, he will be very difficult to beat on the slower surfaces.

Silver lining is Carlos should have won in two but he struggles vs Sinner and even then it was close after Carlos playing so well.

So, who do we think is the best player in the world right now? Sinner who's had the better year, or Alcaraz who's had a very good year and 3-0 against SIN on the way?

Alcaraz goes to 3-0 this year against Sinner. 2 wins on hard and 1 on clay.

The two each hold 2 slams. Sinner with 2 Masters but Alcaraz with 1.

End of the year is going to be fun, Sinner is clearly number 1 only by paper and paper alone. Alcaraz leading him.

Brilliant way for Carlos to finish Sinner's insane HC domination this year, and his tiebreak streak. Goes up 3-0 against Sinner this year, two of those wins on HC.

Most importantly, it was Carlos who was blasting Sinner off the court for most of the match. His serve and BH seem to have improved exponentially in the last few months.

Sinner has been more consistent outside of slams but 2 slams each, Alcaraz got a Silver and is 3-0 against Sinner. Probably pretty even 2024 overall, see how the year end goes to decide it.

I'm going with Alcaraz who's an all court player while Sinner seems to be just hard courts (but yet can't beat Alcaraz on the surface having lost twice to him this year!)

Alcaraz has a slam this year on grass and clay. A Masters on hard and now a 500 on hard against Sinner in the final!

Sinner has 2 slams this year on hard. 2 Masters on Hard and didn't win a single match against Alcaraz on any surface.

"1st player to win atp 500 title on all 3 surfaces" statistic just displayed

What do they mean? Do they mean the youngest to do it? Surely someone has done it before at some point?

Excuses man. Sinner just won USO beating the crap out of everyone.

Just own up to this loss. It's not the end of the world for Sinner.
It doesn’t really matter but I still believe Sinner with his A- hardcourt game beats an A+ hardcourt Carlos. But well played by Carlos. The angles on the first serve were spot on, a deserved win. But I do think the offcourt issues would take its toll.

Will be super interesting to see how the indoor season plays out - don't think Sinner's gonna wipe the floor with everyone as certain fans have claimed... it would be lovely to see Sinner and Raz split the next two masters and determine the true #1 of the year in the YEC final, that would be cracking.

When I woke up this morning, it was 4 all in the 3rd and I missed most of this. That was a quite a performance from Alcaraz down love - 3 in the tiebreak. He turned on the afterburners. Sinner is 0-3 against Alcaraz this year. That is a shocking stat from such a great season and the world #1. Alcaraz has only 1 loss against the top 5 all year. Wow.

Everybody gloats over the win over Alcaraz but it took a solid A/A+ hardcourt level from him to beat a B mode Sinner in 3hrs 21 min. Oh man, I hope the ban lifts and the pressure off those shoulders eases off

I was surprised at how much damage Alcaraz was doing off the ground. He had some pretty untidy misses because of how hard he was going at his shots but in the end the plan worked out for him.

There were also times I got that old feeling of watching Djokovic with Sinner, the relentless solidness and consistency that so often wins out, but not this time.

Alcaraz could have beaten sinner even more bloody

If sinner can't get his serves in, he is not going to win. What a bad performance.
