Very happy to see Carlos demonstrate he is still Sinner’s daddy and has the clutch gene Sinner doesn’t. I’m looking forward to hearing about how Alcaraz still isn’t a top 20 hard court player.

With a little razzing (pun-intended) aside, I don’t think this will be the beginning of some big swing for Carlos. His woes on fast hard courts still worry me, and this is not a fast enough hard court to change my mind. I doubt Sinner has enough in the tank to turn around and win Shanghai, but I do think he should still be the large favorite for Paris and an even bigger on for the WTF

Agreed

Carlos is his daddy right now.

It's 3-0 dude. You can't make this up.

You just don't get it. This isn't about them either.
Last time I looked, the name here was 'Tennis' warehouse, everything tennis related welcome, no matter who or what.
If you going to be so upset every time someone dares to mention another tennis player other than your own idols or those who are playing right now, then I suggest you need another discussion group.

Relax, buddy I hear people mentioning names like Borg, Laver and even older has beens like Fed and Nadal all the time in many threads, and nobody is upset but you? ;)

I'm not surprised you were rooting for Alcaraz. I get the impression with you and other Fed fans that Alcaraz is more like Federer and Sinner is more like Djokovic.
Besides some mild (emphasis on mild) stylistic similarities to their games, Alcaraz is much much more the spiritual successor to Djokovic then Sinner. Plus the relationship and rivalry between Djokovic and Alcaraz bolsters this

I was surprised at how much damage Alcaraz was doing off the ground. He had some pretty untidy misses because of how hard he was going at his shots but in the end the plan worked out for him.

There were also times I got that old feeling of watching Djokovic with Sinner, the relentless solidness and consistency that so often wins out, but not this time.
Carlos was overpowering Sinner more often than not. I am not convinced Sinner is a clear favorite on HC regardless of speed anymore. The rest of the season is going to be interesting. Sinner probably feeling some pressure building now.

Well the score is very close so Sinner couldn't have been that bad. He did have break points at 4 all to break and serve for it.
No no, no no.

I watched from mid second set and sinner was so unclutch. Carlos doing his own thing going for too much.

Novak won't let this match go like sinner did. Definitely not nole in his prime.

Sinner played like beta.

For Carlos to be Sinner's daddy and yet 2 years younger is crazy. Shows how good Alcaraz is ;)

When I woke up this morning, it was 4 all in the 3rd and I missed most of this. That was a quite a performance from Alcaraz down love - 3 in the tiebreak. He turned on the afterburners. Sinner is 0-3 against Alcaraz this year. That is a shocking stat from such a great season and the world #1. Alcaraz has only 1 loss against the top 5 all year. Wow.
Against who did Alcaraz loss, I cannot remember... when was it, and how?

I didn't see most of the match so I can't say one way or another. I hope you don't expect Sinner to be like Nole in his prime. Every player is different.

Lol no, Carlos hits twice as many winners as Djokovic and commits way more UFers . He goes for his shots even more than Fed, Fed had better defense ,shot tolerance, and shot selection though. His game is bit mix of Nadal and Fed but in his own way.

They need to have his hearing ASAP. This is too much mental pressure for Sinner. He needs to play freely and blast Alcaraz back to Murcia

Sinner—at least, not this version of sinner—will never approach the dominance or consistency Djokovic had because, while their games might look similar, on a more nuanced level it is not nearly as efficient as Djokovic’s game was. Novak, talking purely on groundstrokes, varied spin, angles, paces, hit with greater depth, all in ways that Sinner either cannot or does not. Sinner hits the **** out of the ball, and it looks great (and it is very impressive!) but it is not the same level of technical pick-apart mastery Novak had.

"1st player to win atp 500 title on all 3 surfaces" statistic just displayed

What do they mean? Do they mean the youngest to do it? Surely someone has done it before at some point?
Looks like. While Nadal has won Queens , it wasn't a ATP 500 that time. Fed don't think has won any clay 500. They are so little in number

Sinner is 6'4 dude.

Nole is just 6'2

I want to see big man tennis. Big first serves big +1

There was nothing of it. We will see when the stats will come. Sinner was living off of Carlos errors.

And nole even at 6'2 will have more potent offense. Get your serves in.

I'm just sick and tired of Djokovic fans trying to make every thread about him. It's pathetic fanaticism.

Don't know why you're panicking, just relax and enjoy his tennis. He knows he's innocent and nothing will happen to him. He's a lock for AO

Well 6'1 - 6'2 is the ideal height for a tennis player. You have the reach and center of gravity for great movement and balance. 6'4 isn't that ideal although we've seen some great players that height. Sampras, Federer, Nadal and Djokovic were all 6'1 or 6'2.

When the current best play against each other, it is all about who plays the biggest or most important points and moments better, in this case it was Carlos in final set TB... he learned well from his Olympics defeat.

I didn’t want to hype this match, you just knew that Sinner was going to lose. But when is he going to hear his verdict?
This rivalry is good for tennis so I want it to continue. I had no idea who was going to win. I do think it is fair to say that Sinner has to be facing anxiety about the doping charges. For the record I hope he wins because a ban would be terrible for tennis.

I am not talking ideal. I am talking big man tennis.

There was none of it. Raz made 55 errors sinner could be beaten even more brutally otherwise.

Who should be in control , sinner or tiny? It was all tiny dude. Why did sinner hit just 57%

Why did he win so few pts on first serves that landed in.

Yea it really comes to big points in a match that's this close.

Yeah I’d definitely stop watching. But he needs to hear as quickly as he can

Yeah Sinner’s not on the classic Djokovic level but the method and how it unfolds is similar. It’s a different experience to watching Alcaraz where you’re often like ‘wtf are you doing kid’, then he does some craziness and it works way more often than you think it’s going to.

It shows that Alcaraz was the aggressor, plus it's really hard to hit a winner against Alcaraz. Sometimes the winner count doesn't tell the tale when you play him. Look at the stats in the Olympic final. Alcaraz made a lot of errors but also a lot of winners. Both made about the same number of winners and errors which shows they were playing pretty well.

Well let's just wait for the stats to come through. They are not going to make sinner fans happy.

This match sinner never played better. If both are playing their best , how can sinner hope to win buddy.

Faced 15 break points. 15. He never once bullied on serve. Never.

See the stats.
55% serves in
66% first serve pts won.

The dude is 6'4

Yes, it is bad ... I hear your pain, it is like the anti-Djokovic fanatacism?

Facts and reality is, tennis people, friends and foes, will always be talking about the Goat whether you or anyone else like it or not, get used to it, sorry?

He took tennis to another level, after the great Fedal were the bronze and silver standard of tennis, Novak is now the gold standard of tennis after the gold at the Olympics. Every future player or tennis star will be compared to him, asking will this or that guy be better? Can they surpass all his goat records, who will be the next goat etc?

Sinner maybe, but Carlos definitely can save the misery of all that think that even after the Goat retired, he will be not talked about. Not going to happen, he was part and made history already, and who knows, maybe he has another GS in him.
